Master Crafting Metamods

This game is not like D3, it's deep, most of game knowledge sharing is done by our community. GGG will tell you nothing until you find it out yourself and people have their very right keep their secret themselves. Even if some players lied to the majority is also fine, it's part of the game, and in the real life too.

For the economy, I think is also fine even if the ex:chaos ratio hit 1:100. When more "near GG items" show up, all other decent gears price will drop, and poor will have more access to decent gears (some decent gears will go down from 1ex something to 20-30 chaos, due you can craft gg gears) , for those mid-class now they can put their hand on "near GG items" which imo is good thing happen to this game.
The main thing people are upset about is the exalted orb, you can easily sell them and scarcely buy them. Whatever happened is more of a result of people massively overpricing +3 items, and I do feel sorry for those who have legitimately dropped +3 weapons (I've been trying to sell one for weeks)

If I may communicate on behalf of the general PoE player, what I don't want to see is having the exalted orb, which rarely comes into the hands of the average player be the driving force behind even more exalted orb consumption. This infinite cycle results in even more scarce exalted orbs which are never used by the average player.

The reason people want the price for mastercrafts changed to chaos is because the chaos orb is available to all players. Large amounts of chaos orbs are available to all players and can easily run out for people heavily into crafting. This scenario is nowhere near true for exalted orbs.

I agree I would like to see a chaos converted price, and I see the problem, you at GGG would have to come in and put a price on the exalted orbs in chaos! A possible solution would be to use another (non-essential) currency such as vaal orbs or divines. I'd take it as a chance to bring in the popularity of lesser used orbs. I do see the simplicity of doing absolutely nothing Chris, having players devalue items is just common sense. I do see a problem with what will happen next season, people will be able to craft end game items extremely early. That would affect end-game content in ways I believe no one can predict...
I wonder if Hillock-Senpai will notice me when I go to town??

the part I take issue with is the depth of the advantage provided by something 99.9% of player base had no way of knowing.

If the vision GGG has for this game is for closely guarded knowledge to make Gods of a select few players, then it's not a vision I want to be a part of.

except 99.99% of players could have known this, all they had to do was test it themselves. the tools were there nothing was prohibiting them, its not even that crazy of an interaction - prefixes cannot be changed does what it says, shocking.

this is the vision ggg has always had for this game, its the reason they don't release vendor recipes. they want the community to have discoveries for themselves, and honestly i dont see how it took a year for people to realize how strong master mods can be.

Not many people are willing to spend multiple exalts to test out the science. Especially GGG has a no item restoration policy in place.

But sure a small group of people did, and they are rewarded with over 20,000 exalts for it. Props to the community.

If so. They have prolly test that in alpha or beta state of the game, where they couldnt lose anything, and then used that knowledge to gain enormous advantage and wealth in standard and temp leagues.

This is just disgusting.

RIP thoughts of buying an exalted ever.
We fight to delay the end because it's the means that matter.
I can say things gonna go cheaper in one week!
And buying a EX will be like buying a ET in past times.
Let's see.

Why did Carl quickly delete a reddit comment last year clarifying how this works?

He didn't want to accidentally reveal what was, at the time, not commonly known by the community. In the same way to how we don't reveal vendor recipes, we don't want to accidentally affect the natural progression of how players work out crafting tricks.

I don't even know what to say, once the cat was out of the bag, it was out of the bag, but only for the people who saw it.

I'm speechless right now. They really made that move. This is not the game I want to play or support. I'm not your fucking guinea pig for your supermarket simulator.

I'm disappointed with this situation, how GGG allowed these guys having all those advantages and manipulate the market for an entire year. Extremely disappointed as I've never been with any other game. Yeah, isn't something really important, I can continue my life as nothing happened, of course, its just a videogame lol. But, even with all the things you have done on every big patch bashing your own players (nerfs, inconsistent balance changes, mapping disasters, bugs, etc), I continued playing and loving (and hating sometimes) your game. But all the stories revealed today are in another level.

Great post Lord Chris.

Frankly, with the removal of eternal orbs, it doesn't make sense to me to keep a cheaper version of the same effect in the game.

Nor does it make sense to me that Qarls post was deleted, the cat was out of the bag and some people saw this, it no doubt had a big effect on the economy, tempest is affected, but warbands is effectively ruined. Equal to insider trading in the stockmarket in the real world.

GGG has made questionable design decisions in the past, but this one makes no sense at all on any level.
I was selling an amulet in Tempest for 8ex, guy comes and asks if he can pay 400 chaos instead (Tempest have 1:50 ratio, at least it had this morning). Say he can have it for 7ex, he offers 450 chorbs.

This is just one of many.

League of anything but Exalt

While I do think people are grossly overreacting towards this, and I love how you keep things to be discovered (I would hate for you to spoil albino/fishing/krillson secrets) I do think Carl should have kept the post up as the cat was out the bag. Some people saw the comment while most didn't thus it was unfair. He also didn't reveal anything about the specific crafting in that comment; he called out a player's bluff (because said player didn't want people to find out/experiment obviously), nothing more.

However, it is wrong for people to label the players who discovered this as exploiters, selfish yes but they were smart and you weren't. If someone was lucky enough to test this and succeed they should be able to reap the benefits. Then there's the conspiracy of the GGG devs/friends in the guild giving inside information towards these players which I won't get into...which obviously in that case something is very wrong.
