Melee Physical Damage

Is there any good reason why this can't be simply "physical damage" or "weapon physical damage"?

Physical bows need some love.
If it was physical damage, physical spells would get benefit from it, if it was weapon physical damage, unarmed wouldn't get anything from it.

I agree there should be a "more physical projectile damage" support gem (or something to that effect), but changing this gem to accomplish it would be bad.

this needs to be implemented. all ranged attack builds are elemental right now. physical cannot compete.

It does work with cleave, however if you are dual wielding, it wont be as effective. Also, if you are using 2 elemental weapons, that would result in an even lower addition to physical damage.
To buff all melee this gem MUST have get a strong buff and better bonus quality

Please, GGG, add this skill gem to the list of Shadow rewards for quests... he meant to stab baddies in melee but lacks this essential thingie.
Hello, got a problem with this gem.

I'm a crit dagger reave assassin, fully based on physical dmg.

I have one at lvl 20:0%q, one at level 18:20%q. if I remove all my gems and leave just 2 (reave + melee physical dmg) here are the results:

Reave (17:20%q) + melee (20:0%q) : 11520 dps

Reave (17:20%q) + melee (18:20%q): 11523 dps ====> winner

Now if I add multistrike:

Reave (17:20%q) + melee (20:0%q) + Multi (20:20%q): 16997.9 ====> winner

Reave (17:20%q) + melee (18:20%q) + Multi (20:20%q): 16971

To sum up, my gem lvl 18:20%q which should be already better than one at lvl 20:0q is not as good when combined with multistrike. The answer lies in the fact multistrike gives 36% less attack damage. There is a difference of status in the gem melee physical damage between "more melee damage (standard effect)" and "increased melee physical damage (the quality bonus)". The 36% less attack damage from multistrike affects one of the bonus of melee physical damage too much.

I'm not sure I understand why the 2 effects are different, but the bottom line is it renders the quality % almost useless / negligeable. Is there any chance you can take a look into it?
