These monsters were extremely efficient at killing players. This purpose of this change is to prevent mass extinction of exiles, rather than to nerf them as spectres.

Yeah, well, but it does both, doesn't it.

It would be prudent to next time do a balance pass for all potential spectre mobs and check if they are OP _before_ people discover them, get their hopes up and start to like them. Otherwise you are just giving people candy and then take it away, which is IMHO bad for business (the business being player satisfation / retention).

Sad panda.

Now I haven't played a proper summoner since the beginning of 1.3, however, due all this whining, I'll add my 5 cents:
The worst thing about spectres, imo, is that they don't scale up with current map level. Now let's say you start mapping 74+ maps, this pretty much means ANY mob from act 1-3 (and maybe first part of act4) is unusable. Of course, the mobs may appear in the map as well, but good luck finding a mob you want.
If the spectres scaled up to the current level; let's say you get a flamebearer from a3merc to a level 80 map, then it's health/damage base should be scaled up to whatever it would be if it were an enemy in that map. This would maybe make spectres a bit more viable.

But then again, despite the revenant nerf, and even if GGG added level scaling, they shouldn't expected a more diverse use of specters, as summoners (the ones that haven't rerolled yet) will simply go for the next best thing for spectres (so maybe evangelists/whatever the second best spectre thing in a4 is), it's not like you start summoning canon fodder as spectres, you have skeletons for that
It's bad for business because we are not all 16h a day streamers, I have a full time job and a wife, being level 86 is a huge time investment that is being wiped out entirely for no reason, a slight nerf would have never sparked any outrage. 2 weeks in a league im back to square one when I thought I would enjoy the league. I might reroll but I don't know how motivated I can be now. Balancing is good. destroying any hope is not.

yes it's all true, scaling specters would be good. Selecting your specter from the specter gem would be nice too instead of having to go to the zone each time.

final boss

another boss

Piety's beam attack and Malachai's teleport slam are no longer invisible if you return to the area while they're in progress.
You tried... :-P

don't think so, they would have noticed the case when they fight piety mercyless with her moved back close to the wall so you can't run around her anymore.
then you either logout and reload the whole fn instance or you die.

and then the case, if player choses the latter, clicks "resurrect" only to get her beam right into the face because it's still active. (now with improved visibility)

conclusion:
- boss fights shouldn't force the player to change it's skill setup by making "move only" mandatory.
- respawning players directly into the boss room requires that the active skills aren't disabled on death.
Spoiler

disclaimer: i'm rather pissed on myself on why i did the mercyless end boss fights at all. there is really no need, should have switched to maps after activating the rapture device like probably everybody else. piety dropped a blue dagger, the 3 sub bosses some rares and the rares from malachai weren't worth the time put into the fight.

just remember chris stating malachai's death toll in a previous announcement: i'm not wondering about the number because dying is basically superiour to portaling out. and the game doesn't drop enough portal scrolls anyway.
age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

Well, it's certainly less than ideal to nerf stuff that is obviously OP (or is it) after people have had the time to get their hopes up, but let's not blow things out of proportion here. The revenant spectre builds are not destroyed, because you can just take the next best thing, swap a support gem around and there you go (Flame Sentinels?)

The kind of people that accept things for what they are and keeps on working with what they are given?

Or the kind of people that spews acid all over the developers work and content that they have given to them at the cost of nothing?

I think GGG preffers the first type over the second to be honest, wich one of them are you?

Would like to thank again for the constantly changing game and continues patch support from the developers!
