Unique Rebalance for The Awakening
Disadvantages that you speak of are a fantasy. Mate, this is a game, there IS no disadvantage. As a new player even 5 Exa's will be a fortune for you, but if you learn to participate in the market over time, craft/sell, frame farm etc. there is no item you cannot afford if you put your mind to it. Hell, just scour poe.trade for items that are quick sells, look for bargains, flip them (CoC daggers come to mind). Just recently I've flipped two CoC Ambushers, purchased one for 3exa, added mods to it and sold it for 15; purchased the other for 5exa added mods and sold it for 32exa. Now, that's not a lot of profit from quick two sales but it adds up fast if you do it all the time.
So Mjolner (and other items) becoming legacy is nothing new, it will not disrupt the economy heavily nor will it destroy it. If anything, new players will be able to buy non-legacy Mjolners dirt-cheap so they can try out a build they like. If they like it, then they should get the legacy one. Ie. I did the same for my Facebreaker build. And there are ALWAYS enough legacies in supply, on top of that if you're patient you'll even find a better bargain AND a better roll. i always find it hilarious when people defend these obviously terrible decisions by advising people to spend their time on poe.trade to flip items... instead of playing the game.
it definitively proves the point - the game has problems when the 'solution' involves not playing the game. [Removed by Support]

poe.trade is there because there's no in-game auction system...
And yes, if many of us could do it to get our gear-setups, so can you... if you want. If you don't want to dabble in the market, don't complain about being at a disadvantage. 'Expensive' items are out there if you want them, and there are VARIOUS ways to get them. poe.trade is just ONE of them. You can stick to the game screen and trade, craft/sell or play & farm, and still get items you want. Doing a quick poe.trade page refresh on 5-10 tabs that I keep opened hardly takes any time. Less whining > more playing the game. ...that makes no sense. you JUST advocated LESS playing the game and more trading... and then you close with saying more playing?
trading =/= playing. edit: and hahaha @ you advocating crafting as a means of gaining currency. wow. it's... it's as if you understand nothing at all about the current state of poe. Newsflash: Economy's a part of POE, thus a part of the game. If you want to go hack and slash only, have at it, POE shall provide. Good luck building a desired gear setup that way, which is what you're whining here about, gear. Just remember, neither you nor new players are at a disadvantage, which is what this whole discussion is revolving around. You're only choosing not to dabble in trade and thus make it more difficult for yourself to attain items.
And yes, I am advocating crafting (not mirror-quality, mind you) as a means of gaining currency. Seems you're missing out on a few things regarding POE ;) I find it laughable you're complaining about some fantasy disadvantages when it comes to attaining legacy items, yet you dismiss the many available options to get these 'fantastic' items that give some players this fantasy advantage you speak of. Sounds to me you're more interested in just rolling the content and maps, why even bother complaining here about items going legacy, which happened for the 50th time now? " umm... you might want to re-read this. clearly, i am not whoever you think i am... because i never said anything about that. so good job! " umm... again, no. i dismissed your suggestion that crafting is a good means to gain CURRENCY. ...which it never really was. and now that new tiers are being added next week - it's the worst possible idea. again, good job. my favorite part is where you pretended that being on poe.trade is playing. Discussion was about "new players being at a disadvantage" now that some items (mainly Mjolner I guess) will go legacy. I pointed out that, that is terribly hyperbolic.
You just picked out the 'poe.trade argument' as if to say that spending time using it isn't playing. Again, poe.trade exists due to no in-game auction, and due to the fact that trading is a mini-game within POE itself. That's a valid way of doing any trade (do you check poe.trade prices when you sell/buy stuff? Yeah, thought so), as well as trading in-game. In any case, advising someone to trade in order to get currency ISN'T a knee jerk solution, as you suggested, but a way this game worked since... well forever. Meaning that my argument (with the other person) stands, made in relation to getting legacy items via trade. Just because you may not like trading, or think that it's "hilarious" to advise people to trade and buy gear, is your own thing. And yeah, I've traded, CRAFTED/SOLD, frame farmed etc. and piled up currency for my build(s) whenever I wanted to try one. No issues there, no matter the cost (I wouldn't go for mirror-gear builds though). What's hilarious is that you think crafting wasn't profitable until now, and even worse will cease to exist or be profitable with new tiers coming out... good job. There'll always be more crafting... I promise you :) Anywoh, it's page 20 something and the SWEEET changes are coming regardless of you liking them or not. Hope you enjoy them ;) Cheers mate IGN: Bootfish, Bootcharge, Krux ☆ PoE YouTube Channel: http://tinyurl.com/bootfish 2.0 Uber Atziri Video guide for "Mjolner Armor Life MoM/EB": http://tinyurl.com/malmomeb 2.0 Videos: 82 Core ☆ Uber Atziri: http://tinyurl.com/bootfish Build guide thread: http://tinyurl.com/liferainbownuke Last edited by Krux on Jul 2, 2015, 11:49:25 PM

FACT: browsing listings on a website is NOT playing this video game.
FACT: your defense/solution to this game's particular problem (of many) involves NOT playing. [Removed by Support]

" It seems to me, Krux is just trying to troll. And yes, trading/farmaing like a madman is boring. If i try to farm Dominus 100 times in a row, on a 101-st time i'll quit palying. So it's 100% about personal preferences. Yes it's possible to get 50+ or even 100+ exalts. But i will never get them because i know, i'll become bored and quit playing much earlier. But ofc, somebody else can and will get those 100 exa. | |
" Total troll post :) Or a clueless one but I doubt anyone belives this so I stay with #1. Not beeing able to drop items isnt a disadvantage also? When I started playing and 1000 hp kaoms dropped I sure as hell was at an advantage to find one compared to now. They were a ton cheaper even if I wanted to get it by trading, so I was at a huge advantage even if I played the game you wanted. Well, todays laugh at least, thank you :) |
