User-Generated LLD Tournaments & Ladders
REPOSTED on the first post.
------------------------------------------------------- I was thinking we could manually hold level 28 tournaments (HC or Standard) and the victories from those tournaments could be added to a General PvP Table Ladder. 1) The Bracket: The Bracket we could use could be something like this: Or we can use "Challonge" for both the randomization of the bracket and the bracket itself. If someone is not familiar with "Challonge" is a website in which you can host tournaments and the duelers starting position can be randomized (and recorded and posted on youtube so anyone can see how legit it was). 2) The Ladder Table: Explanation on how the "General PvP Table Ladder" could work. The Tables will have "Duels Won" "Duels Lost" "Medals" "Points". -A "Duel Won" grants 2 points. -A "Duel Lost" subtracts 1 point. -A Gold medal is given for winning a tournament. -A Silver medal is given for finishing on second place on a tournament. The Positions on the PvP Table Ladder gives priority to “points” earned, if there is a tie on “points” then the second important statistic are the “Gold medals” gained, then in case of a tie, the third most important statistic are the “Duels Won”. Note: In case two duelers finish a duel in a tie (which means, that all rounds ended up and there was a tie), then they fight again another duel, but whoever wins a single round first, ends up victorious and "wins the duel". We can have two Ladder Tables, one for "Individual Duelers" and another one for the "House" (aka account): What is a "House" and an "Individual Dueler"? House is a formal way to call the owner/account of the duelers/characters. For example, my account is "Golden_Order" and my dueler/character is Amsheim_PvP. Therefore, we can say that the dueler Amsheim_PvP from the House of the Golden_Order won X Tournament. It is that simple. The reason to separate both, is because one thing is the performance and statistics of the whole account, and another thing is the performance and statistics of the dueling character. For example: (The following example comes from a LLD Ladder Table we had on D2 Hardcore Europe) House Statistics Individual Duelers Statistics Out of 40 duelers... Please ignore the "Kills" statistic, this is an example of a Ladder Table I was running on D2 Hardcore LLD Europe. You could Kill and win a duel, or you could win a duel (without killing), but this is D2 discussion and I dont want to waste words on explaining something that doesnt concern to PoE PvP. We can run this type of Ladder Table + Tournaments on Hardcore and Standard. Therefore, we can have two different House Ladders (Hardcore and Standard) and two different Individual Duelers Ladders (Hardcore and Standard). What do you people think? Domt forget to mention servers... I'm from EU and fighting US players with 180+ ping isn't really enjoyable so please think about EU, US tournaments.
Still I love the concept just announce a date and let me lose against those filthy facebreaker LLD chars :P edit: Many players try LLD and get stomped by richer players how about an entry fee of a few chaos and you give some of them to the winner and some are distributed randomly to newer players? an entry fee seems a good idea to pile up currency to generate some kind of competitiveness into this tournament, it would also probably be a good idea to give currency depending on how rich your are, and your pvp experiences.
I like the idea of statistics, i would be really cool to keep a tracking of who won, who played this tournament, and keep a track of how many medals you earned and etc, so pvpers can feel somewhat rewarded from winning or achieving a said rank. It would also be a great way for people to just scroll up and see who does pvp, this way it is really easy to add a certain player if you are looking for a pvp match. ladders like these take constant updating and quite a bit of work on someones part. LePvPMaster did something similar back in the day back I think it was too much work for him, idk. PvP in this game seems like it comes in Waves. People get really hyped and interested and wanna make something cool and then when they learn how pvp really is in this game and wait for change. They either get really serious and set up awesome characters spending tons and tons of currency or ditch entirely because its too much work. Right now we are in a pretty big slump and many of us are confused with where LLD is going. Right now is a good time for community events. I am all for it. It would be cool to have some grudge matches and streams/shoutcasts with some of the top duelers competing for rank on ladder. I hope you have some friends to help you Golden_order or you just are willing to take the work load of the ladder and hyping these events.

" I have no problem updating constantly the bracket & PvP Ladder Tables. Its actually quick and fast. I used to do it on D2 HC Europe and we managed to organize 10 successful tournaments (with its PvP Table Ladder statistics), and remember D2 is basically a dead game. I think we can do much better on PoE. :) I think we can start with a 1st edition Standard Tournament, and a 1st Edition Hardcore Tournament. If we can gather 16 duelers for each tournament, then it could be a good start, I'm willing to give (from my stash) 10 chaos for the winner and 5 chaos for the second place in the Standard tournament. In the Hardcore tournament, we could charge an entry fee of 1 or 2 chaos, and then depending on how much we gather, 67% of the chaos collected go to the champion and the rest (33%) to the second place. If both tournaments are successful, then we can start organizing more editions, in the following editions we can charge entry fees for both standard and hardcore. Maybe a moderator or someone with good and trusted reputation like Grindcore can collect the entry fee on Hardcore, and someone else on Standard. Tl;dr version: 1st edition Standard tournament, I will put 15 chaos from my stash (champion wins 10c and a Gold medal in the ladder table, runner up wins 5c and a silver medal on the ladder table). 1st edition Hardcore tournament, Fee entry of 1 or 2 chaos (we have to debate and decide this) and the champion wins 67% of the chaos collected + gold medal, and runner up 33% of chaos collected + silver medal. I will try to send some PMs to see how many are interested, the goal is to start the first edition with at least 16 duelers on standard, and at least 8 duelers in hardcore. When PvP'ers look at the success of these tournaments & Table Ladder statistics, then they will join in the next editions. Note: The entry Fee's could increase depending on the success of these tournaments. --------- Edited: I sent some PMs to the top active duelers, hopefully they get interested in participating. We will have the following Tournaments & Table Ladders: Standard US Standard Europe Hardcore US Hardcore Europe I was thinking on starting a 1st Edition Standard US and 1st Edition Hardcore US, but if in the interest from the european PvP'ers is high, then we will add 1st Edition Standard Euro and 1st Edition Hardcore Euro too. But, its too soon right now, lets wait for their replies and opinions. Last edited by Golden_Order#0868 on May 30, 2015, 12:22:13 PM

So far so good. I have been receiving positive replies from many PvP'ers and their desire to join these tournaments & ladders. Lets give this more days, so we can gather more. Please, help me spread the word with your friends or dueling partners, so we can start running this very soon.
Next weekend, I will set a tentative date for the 1st edition tournaments. The idea is to run these tournaments every 2 or 3 weeks depending on many factors. Lets not get ahead of ourselves and wait a few more days for more people to read this and get interested. If anyone wants to give their opinion on this, please feel free to post here. All opinions are welcome. |
