Question about the current "PvP Rating Table"

I started dueling with my well-equipped lvl 28 dueler yesterday (Sunday), in which I managed to get to rank #35 with over 1620+ points or something. Today (Monday) I didn't have time to play PvP, and decided to check the ratings and suddenly I have 1598 points.

My question is, do you lose points by not dueling in 24 hours or something?, how come I lost like 20+ points by not even dueling. What happened here?

Yes, since season 2 there is a decay system on the ladder to avoid people holding positions by never playing.
Oh man, this is such a BAD idea. Many of us work, also most of the people duel on weekends, on weekdays is hard to find duels. I hope they fix this because this decay thing is dumb. Losing over 20 points just for not dueling in 24 hours is stupid and unfair to those of us who cant play 24/7.

Thanks for the answer.

I think its better than it was before. It's good you actually have to play to keep your spot, not just play for a few days then never touch it again(myself I hardly queue, do it once inawhile, maybe go for the top, then just dont bother with it for months, as laddering is pointless)
It's hard to remember what you have forgotten

Why do you think laddering is pointless?, I find it challenging. Trying to get to the top spots is a good challenge by itself. I dont like the decay system. If you managed to get 2300 points, then whats wrong with stopping using that char?, if anyone wants to surpass it, then just duel and win until you manage to get over 2300, but the decay system is an unfair penalty system. Many people cant play all days, sometimes people go on travel and stuff, so all the effort you did to get 2300 (for example) will be in vain just because you have to do other stuff too.

I hope they reconsider their decision of implementing the decay system and get rid of it. What a bad idea.

Edit: Actually, I think with the decay system, laddering IS pointless lol. I guess I answered myself. Whats the point on getting to the top 10 or top 5 if you are going to lose your hard-earned points anyway just for not playing 24/7 like a no lifer. Dont you agree?

The thing is, without the decay system, the first people to reach top20 will stay there FOREVER because once they;ll be there, they wont play anymore to not loose their position to other people.

If it wasn't there, 1vs1 would be ghost town and instead or arguying about this, you'll be there crying about how unfair it is that you can't climb the ladder anymore because the top positions are allready taken.

Also laddering is pointless because there is no rewards other then the feeling of achievement looking at the ranking.

Of course not, did you ever play the Rating System on Age of Empires 2? (a rating system similar to the one used here on PoE) in the old gaming zone?. Those people on the top 20, if they stop playing, then they just stop making points, and the other people playing (those who are good of course and win their matches) will eventually surpass them. But taking points out for not playing makes getting to the top pointless.

It wouldnt be "ghost town", in Age of Empires 2, what pushed me (and many others) to become one of the top players, was being on the top of the rating, im pretty sure if the decay system is gone, more people would feel encouraged to become better and better duelers to eventually win more and more duels and reach the top spots. If the top duelers stop dueling, the other ones who continue dueling will eventually surpass them and enjoy their effort watching their names on the top of the ladder table.

It is pointless right now because the best of the best duelers would be: whats the point on getting to the Top 5 with over 2200 points if they are going to lose those points anyway, unless they go 24/7 no-life-mode. The rewarding thing would be to keep your points, if you were VERY GOOD, won your matches and managed to get 2200 or 2300 points, then you deserve to be on the top, if you stop playing, then whats the problem?, somebody else who might be as good as you will eventually surpass you.

The decay system is what makes getting to the top pointless, because to be realistic it is impossible to be online dueling 24/7 forever, sometimes people go on journeys or travels or vacations.

Anyway, it is good to have this debate. Thanks for providing your point of view.

If I understand well, the thing is this ladder seems to be similar to real Boxing/fighting sport ladder.

It would be much better if points where to be like in soccer league: 3 pt victory/1pt draw/0 pt loose.

Of course the problem comes with some shady PVPers who prefer killing their alts to get points instead of getting killed by other players...

... and that is why they made this "boxing" sort of ladder I guess.

As you see There is no better solution than what they did for now sadly.

What if they use the soccer system and also forbid one account to get points after lets say 4-5 fight/24h? This might stop people boosting themselves too much and reduce the points one can get to an amount that is not impossible to beat.

Those people could still do 1 vs 1 just if they play 5 matches in a 24h period the next matches they don t gain anything from it anymore until the next 24h period.
