HLDer helping LLDers that want to start HLD!

Before we get into this fight about LLD vs. HLD, I want to just get back to the point of having more transparency in builds and gear in the overall pvp community. My point earlier was that the people like us who are involved in the PvP scene need to figure a way to help expand the community. Yes, there are things GGG can do to help, such as introducing a PvP chat channel that GGG helps advertise, or making it easier to find groups, or being able to see who's in the sarn arena before going in), but the community needs to also figure a way to get more people interested.

1v1 help is nice and commendable, but you can't scale it. Also, sometimes people would just rather read something or watch a video than go into a 30 minute discussion with another person.
Someone made a great guide once (build is irrelevant since but it was a great read at the time).

I'm planning to build a shockwave totem character for HLD, but I don't know how effective it can be in pvp matchs. The delay for totem to start attacking after they are summoned, and the lack of totem's survivability is my concerns. Can you give me some advices, or is it simply unavailable?

I would not suggest to play any kind of totem build in HLD. They're pretty weak and provides charges for your enemey as well as able to overkill damage proliferate with Herald of ash. You'd probably as you said lack defense due to probably have to spec into a lot of damage nodes for the totem.

The knockback isn't reliable either as melee can leap/flicker and kill it, rangers can just, well outrange it, and casters can either range and/or warp in and kill it rapidly

You'll need some kind of elemental conversion anyway (physical to lightning or avatar of fire) as physical dmg is pretty much useless against good old cwdt/EC/IC combo (it may change in 1.4, will be hilarious to see people freaking out with the retourn of physical).

Look like any build involve totem or minion can't stand a chance in HLD pvp, the only viable build I have seen is a zombie + trap build, but it is only effective again melee though.
It would be nice if there was a pvp mod from the leo crafting bench that your minions don't provide flask charges to your enemy.
