A guide has been posted here which covers general aspects and strategies of racing.

A summary of Time based events:

Timed based events are new type of event introduced in Race Season 9, they are designed to create a new kind of competitive environment where players compete not by character experience, but by their capabilities to progress through the game and complete specific objectives, such as killing bosses.

The boss required to be defeated for this race is: Piety, located in Lunaris Temple Level 3.

  • The time recorded is based from the beginning of the race, not when your character is created.
  • Characters will not appear on the ladder until they have completed the objective.
  • Characters are not required to have completed the time based objective in order to receive points for the other objectives, such as points awarded for reaching certain levels.
  • Characters who die after completing the objective, will still be counted for receiving reward points except for the level-specific prizes.
  • Points are awarded at the end of the race, do not delete your characters until they have been moved to the permanent leagues.

Season 8 Race #17
Season 9 Race #4
>1hr 53mins

>2nd Duelist

A series of AMAZING drops and RNG early on (2 acceleration shrines and 2 diamond shrines before A2) but sadly I faced Piety with a Lv 12 sword. Likewise no alchemist orbs and 4+ 4Links but no armour/evasion.

Piety Kill Gear

Awesome start from Submerged:
Spoiler

Close Calls/fuckups
- Approx 5minutes lost in total
-- A2 CoS Lv2, those narrow bridges got me permafrozen/shocked by skellies, relogged and ran back
-- A2 Pyramid, Colossal skelly added cold dmg nearly oneshot me. Relogged
-- Piety herself, had to rerun all the way back from Lunaris 2
-- Would not have affected my being 2nd Duelist so NO RAGRETS ^_^

Notes
- HOLY CRAP STATIC STRIKE OP
-- Up til Lv25+ every boss was a joke compared to Molten Strike.
-- Even pack killspeed was superior.
-- 25+ was coming close to being "on par" with MS but dayum. I'm sold.
- Again, Piety herself is not hard compared to key mobs along the way.
-- Sewer Dischargers and Ebony Legion soldiers/casters are MUCH scarier. I skipped them all.
- In Lunaris 2, if you get the WP early, reload the zone because you are statistically going to run further if the WP is close to the entrance staircase.

Question:
Where do I level up between City of Sarn and Docks? A certain area or just en route?
@alphaaccount

depends on the race, for a3 boss kills i go for 23 in city, hit 24 going through slums + crema to use the gem, then pick up additional exp going through warehouse/marketplace/battlefront.

go to solaris first after battlefront wp if you're underleveled because it'll give you more exp than docks (30 zone v 32 zone) then once you hit 26 for the grand flasks skip as much as you can to piety for a faster time

regular races ~24-25 in sarn (25 if fixed seed and shrine available @ sarn) then hopefully hit 26 on the way to docks. Warehouse gives better exp than sarn in regular non-fixed races, so you might want to transition there earlier instead of staying at sarn to 25.

Season 8 Race #17
Season 9 Race #4
dafuq was I doing

Had no idea how to efficiently progress past city of sarn LOL

Really long race, my hat off to those who did it in <2 hours
What about Solaris? I got very lost in there. I might have made top 10, but thankfully there was a huge lack of templars so even at 12th place, was #2.

Also if you take the time to answer this, PM me instead of posting in the thread, I'll forget about it
33rd and 3rd marauder not bad for myself considering i'm not a huge racer and haven't played much since closed/open beta.

Goal was 2.5 hours and I went just past it so i'll take it. Got a quicksilver in mud flats and a 2nd one on brutus so that was nice. No good weapons until about 2/3rds of the way through A2 when I found my sword which carried me nicely all the way through piety. I was pulling 550ish tooltip dps with static when I was doing lunaris 3/piety.

Rest of my gear sucked except the lvl 27 boots which were decent with the hps. The ruby ring had decent damage but that's about it, got that from solaris 2 quest reward.
