anyone else play grim dawn?
I want the games I play to have a proper ending, much like act 10 in Path of Exile. Kill the boss, and that's it. I simply refuse to grind the Atlas, it doesn't feel like a game anymore, more like work.
Does Grim Dawn have an act 10, so to speak? Last edited by EldorLoreseeker on Oct 20, 2017, 6:17:05 PM

If you're that worried about playing through the game 3x, you could just use a trainer to level up and skip difficulties. Stuff like devotion points can be obtained elsewhere like from the crucible. Or you could just give yourself all the devotion points you'd normally had if you have played through X difficulties.
There are also lots of mods for Grim Dawn that change the classes, and gear/loot options. For the expansion, I didn't make a new character from scratch, I trainered one up, because I already beat the game a ton of times, and I wasn't looking to play through normal => ultimate again, either. I had some decent gear in GD vault, and started a new character at level 85 on ultimate. First class I tried was Purifier (Inquisitor + Demolitionist), I didn't look up any build guides, prior. It just seemed like those 2 classes had great synergy with each other. Last edited by MrSmiley21 on Oct 20, 2017, 7:34:11 PM

" Wow, I have done the same, I go purifier with gunslinger style, it has some real damage but is squish (with bad gear) it seems to have potential anyway. Last edited by Bolander on Oct 21, 2017, 12:04:12 AM

" it has an ending to the story, yes. both before and after the expansion. just like PoE had an act 2 (Vaal in Beta) then Act 3 (Piety/Dominus) then Act 4 (Malachai), and now Act 10. in my opinion it does story content extremely well also because theoretically you can play the "uber zones" like Steps Of Torment, Bastion Of Chaos, Port Valbury, and Hidden Path while playing through the Normal/Veteran story. but all of the above don't really become "End Game" until you tackle them in Ultimate, while unlocking additional Ultimate-specific stuff like The Edge Of Reality. and all the insane loot that comes with them. so just like you are missing out on Map Bosses, Atziri and Guardians/Shaper encounters by not grinding the Atlas here - you will miss out on brutal Nemesis encounters, Faction Quests and End Game zones, if you don't proceed into Ultimate in Grim Dawn. I'd say Grim Dawn is a bit easier on the grind because you can get to End Game self-found. the game is built for that - finding and crafting gear. it still takes a very long time, but in PoE I haven't yet fought Shaper or Uber Atziri or a single Guardian, and I'm here since 2013. PoE's RNG is too brutal to ever hope of finding anything good that would take your character to the next level, unless you are Anuhart and play for literally ten thousand hours. because PoE isn't built for finding loot. it's built for buying it. " Many thanks for this extensive answer. I'm on a break from POE at the moment playing Hob. Fantastic game, and something completely different. Perhaps I'll pick up Grim Dawn later on. |

Eldor, what is Hob? Sorry if I missed it in another post.
I like GD OK but it is such a pain to gear up. Censored.

That game looks so boring.
And i can't wait for this wave of extremely ugly cartoon graphics in would be major games to pass. I mean, they don't even try. I can take the worst crap pixelated ugly graphics if it's made with style - but that shit is just sad to behold. It's just like cartoons, i rarely ever watch them unless extremely good because they just don't convey feeling in the same way, they are so fucking superficial its turning me right off. Give me the raw shit, not the kids art. I am the light of the morning and the shadow on the wall, I am nothing and I am all. Last edited by Crackmonster on Oct 22, 2017, 7:36:52 AM
