anyone else play grim dawn?
" Strange, it's the game saturated with the most RPG elements of all currently existing. Even when completing quests, your decisions can influence the story line. Didn't get it about the single player MMORPG as well. This is a buff © 2016 The Experts ™ 2017 Last edited by torturo on Jul 7, 2016, 4:09:12 AM

To Jojas and Torturo:
If you ever played games like World of Warcraft, Lineage or Allods than you know what I am talking about. It has same feeling and the way its played, how skills are casts with its cooldowns. Hp and mana potions are on very long cooldown as well. If I said mmorpg for single player, I can say in same way: mmorpg without mmo. That gameplay is quite similar to Dragon Age origins when I am talking about casting skills as well.
" Not really, cooldown system isn't an exclusive MMO feature, if a game has cooldowns on skills that doesn't have to mean there's less action in it so it doesn't qualify as an arpg anymore. Yes, Titan Quest isn't a near 1:1 Diablo clone like Torchlight but that goes for Sacred too and both games are proper isometric action rpg looters. MMO games are designed to offer more limited control over your character to allow a wider player skill range and greater latency tolerance so you can save a bit on server expenses too. A good indicator of the level of actionness in an rpg for me is how much can you manually dodge (without rolls, teleports and whatever skill you might have to simulate manual dodging). Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs. ◄[www.moddb.com/mods/balancedux]► ◄[www.moddb.com/mods/one-vision1]► Last edited by raics on Jul 7, 2016, 6:58:24 AM

Allright boiz, need some build advice here.
I played GD ~two months ago, but I'm still almost a total noob at it. I made a lvl 65 Witchblade, that is lobbying a poison grenade (Dreg evil eye?), using lots of buffs and two pets. It's fun, but mostly just spamming 1 skill & kiting. I'd like a build suggestion: * melee or tanky caster * has to use multiple skills, I want the combat to be tactical, not just spam * has to be Ultimate viable and powerful once you loot the right items * no summoner stuff, dont like it I'd ask on GD site, but their forum is horribly un-ergonomic and confusing to look at. Poe's is slick and feels like home. :) Just point me in the right direction. When night falls

fire sorcerer
Consists of 2 skills. If you want you can transmute the BWC and trade spammability for massive damage. If so respec mental alacrity. Will need CDR items in this case. High base stats increase, item independent. Build is pretty tanky for a caster, btw. If you can't stand the BWC as some players do, could bring you something else. ^ thanks.
Googling Sorceror I found this build: Lasers and Explosions - A Guide to an Albrecht's Aether Ray Sorcerer in B29. Aether/Fire damage, uses plenty of skills, Ray for tough mobs, Flash freeze / calidor's tmepest & bombs for crowd control / trash mobs. Might be outdated (?), but for now I find it fun to play. AAR is such an annoying shit it's unbearable. Probably the worst skill to ever exist in this game.
But if you have the nerves to play with it, it pays off. Got a solid damage potential. Also mind that this is a squishy SC build. I'm not sure how dated is it as well. If I remember correctly, they removed the fire resistance reduction on OFF and if it's so, it nullifies the fire portion. You can check about it. If it's like that, then the BWC debuff can replace it, but will require solid reworks of the build. This is a buff © 2016 The Experts ™ 2017 Last edited by torturo on Jul 8, 2016, 6:48:18 AM

Grabbed a copy during Steam Summer Sale, leveled my Blademaster to Lvl 85 ..
and yet I don't find it as addictive as PoE ..
" One of my builds is AAR. I recommend making something else to be honest. I second that AAR is shit. Here is why AAR is shit. Around 6 minutes for a mad queen kill: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rR2e4plC7E I improved on the build a little over what's posted in the video. Got a better weapon, Warpfire. Has 83% cold to fire conversion. Then I grabbed Olexra's Flash Freeze, got it to 16/12, and can freeze almost the entire screen with 1 cast, the AOE is massive on it. But the worst part about the build is still AAR. AAR is shit. I can't emphasize enough how shitty AAR is. I don't even use AAR on my Sorcerer anymore, I dropped it for Calidor's Tempest. AAR needs a pretty massive buff to be viable. Like if it did 2x the damage, with 1/2 the energy cost and could pierce targets, it would be worth it. Here is why melee is king in Grim Dawn (with worse gear than the AAR build by the way): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-6NzYpyhEY&feature=youtu.be One build face tanks and spanks, and the other has to kite around like a bitch without having the DPS to make up for the fact they can't stand still and deal 100% of their DPS all the time. There are exceptions to this rule, but in general melee roflpwns the shit out of casters. And Mad Queen is a fight that most people say ranged is better in. That just underscores how shit AAR is. If you want a caster that's not shit, I recommend one of the Warlock builds that uses doom bolt + time dilation. They can drop mad queen in like 8 secs! But melee can do the same thing with time dilation + shadow strike. Remove TD from the equation and melee is simply better, period. Last edited by MrSmiley21 on Jul 11, 2016, 3:03:42 AM

My game wasn't updated (bought it on GOG, have to update manually), was still 1.002. I put the Sorceror guy on hold. AAR is indeed clunky, but I like the idea of a huge green lazor melting shit... Ah, it's great to be a noob at a game :)
Will get back to the Sorcerer eventually, but for now I rerolled a Warder melee guy, because I had a bunch of nice 2-hander loot from my previous char. Phys + bleed (Blade Arc), with leech is very tanky. I guess the best way to play GD is having lots of builds leveling up near-simultaneously. This way you share loot. I have barely scratched the surface of this game. The itemization seems a lot better / varied, than it is in PoE. Rare items have lots of useful affixes / combinations and you can find GG rares for your build. Eventually Legendary items are BiS for every build, but I don't mind that, since the path there is long. E: lol, after update that Sorceror build got it's HP halved. And it was already glassy before... When night falls She cloaks the world In impenetrable darkness Last edited by morbo on Jul 11, 2016, 5:48:46 AM
