[3.0] NeverSink's ♣ INDEPTH Tornado&Archer Guide ♣ Beginner friendly ♣ Rapid clear ♣ All bosses
Impressive guide u made here, excellent work!
A question: What single target skill is best against Atziri, when it comes to damage, now that puncture has been nerfed? It doesn't seem clear to me from the info in the guide. Kitty's Guide On Post Formatting - view-thread/1913874 Last edited by Dkodr#6088 on Dec 16, 2014, 4:22:06 PM

I decided to try this build in the rampage league and I was very happy with it. It's without a doubt the strongest build I ever played, so I am very thankful for this guide! This ranger made it able for me to kill all different bosses in the game, including uber atziri and I could run all maps mod (except for phys reflect).
I updated my passive tree after the 1.3 patch and ran some maps/atziri to see if this ranger is as strong as it was pre-patch. I went down from 25k to 23k tornado shot dps and from 47k to 42k puncture dps (mainly because the nerf to Crit multi gem) and I hardly noticed any difference in kill/clear speed in maps. Puncture still works great against bosses (still very powerful against exiles and atziri-trio). The bleed is, as expected, not as powerful as before but it still works great as a single target skill. One advantage with the nerf to Crit mult gem is that phys reflect doesn't strike as hard as before, which i felt immediately when I encountered a pack with that mod. TLDR: This build is just as awesome as it was before! My gear and passives btw: PS: OP, you may have forgot to remove the mana passives in your "112 points - extra 178% life, harrier, evasion, crit"-tree |

" legacy Maligaro's ;) very nice.. ever thought of divining these to the max roll? |
|
" Yeah I found those in my standard stash after my character was transferred from rampage to standard, didn't even know they had been nerfed. :P Hmm no, I thought a legacy item would get the updated item mods when a divine is used on them. Is that not the case? :P |

i saw that for puncture you have a setup for trap now,is it better to go with trap puncture now to make up for the nerf or better go the normal way with peirce?
just bought a 17% puncture and want to see if is dmg worth it or not.just wondering if i should go with trap/point blank or not. Last edited by zakariusqc#1505 on Dec 17, 2014, 12:16:27 AM

Hey guys. Wouldn't grabbing +% Increase Physical Damage for Bows be better DPS than the +% Increase Projectile Damage? Or am I missing something here...Because I've noticed in the new 1.3 Skill Tree, not many Increased Physical Damage for Bows were taken.

that is difficult to say. projectile damage is everything, elemental and physical. all the damage your arrow consists of when you shoot it is boosted by projectile damage.
however, for physical damage bows, all of your bonuses are calculated off physical (added fire damage, hatred). so the higher your physical damage the higher your bonuses off it will become. it would be quite difficult i imagine to actually calculated the exact difference. it would probably end up being about the same, depending on % per point ratio between physical to projectile. |

Has anybody been able to get Atziri down in 1.3 with this build yet? If so any feedback/videos?

" I'm confident about it and with some luck I'll be taking her down this week (I actually wanted to run apex by yesterday, but had a lot of work to do this week :<). I just need to replace my rings and amulet. " Soon™ " " The way PoE calculates your damage is a bit tricky, however once you start understanding it, it's pretty easy. In fact: projectile damage provides a larger benefit than physical damage. 10% proj. damage will always increase your DPS equally or slightly more, than 10% phys. No matter your bow, auras and other stats. As for why I picked up more proj. damage. I wasn't actually aiming to prioritize one of them. Instead, I was looking for the most cost effective nodes and paths in the version. And that's about it. Also, I'm just going to leave this here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jMo41lL5xtdExseluc8yIkhd5Yw7u1mruoUSI6y8xxk/edit?usp=sharing " I recommend trying out both yourself. Trap hurts more. Bow is more mobile and not on a counter. Personally I'm more of a bow fan. " Yes they get updated. Don't do it. If you want to find creative ways to ruin items, vaal it instead :P " Oops, thanks. " That's because I'm not done updating yet. I just got bored yesterday and went ingame to kill stuff ._. Blink arrow is so great, because it leaves a decoy that attacks and distracts mobs. With increased duration/faster attacks you can have 2 clones at all time, while casting it VERY quickly. This significantly increases the time you can attack, when fighting heavy hitters such as Merveil and atziri (didn't try last one yet in torment, will give feedback in a few day top) Also likely good for PVP. Didn't get to try it though. "This can be only done with PVP-only characters" is disappointing. Also didn't try mirror arrow yet. ---------------- Also, I'll take a look if I saved the photoshop files. If I did, I can change the font to something different and less fancy. I'm sad though :( Please don't PM me ingame with filter/guide questions, post them on the forum, after reading the FAQ. Last edited by NeverSink#3349 on Dec 17, 2014, 5:05:34 AM

I would favor +Projectile Damage over +Increased Physical.
Of course it also depends on how much percent you get for those nodes. E.g. +3% Projectile will not trump out +15% Physical of course. But if they are near identical (e.g. +8% Projectile vs. +10% Physical): +Projectile Damage also benefits from Herald of Ice/Thunder, Anger and Wrath aura or flat elemental damage on gear. |
