Either go full pierce or drop pierce nodes (ascendancy nodes) and go chain. LA is fine with full pierce too, especially since pierce has a totally OP and unjustified more modifier.

Regarding P2L, one of its main disadvantage in my opinion is it lowers your physical damage leach. You may have some from gear, tree (blood drinker) and gem (blood rage). And this all adds up for survivability.

Eventually damage is no more a problem with archers, but survivability remains one, usually.

The thing is, I was going drillneck build all pierce nodes AND deadeye+chain, which doesn't make sense at all now that I realized it.

I will probably drop the 2 deadeye asc nodes I have, and replace it into Raider. Probably going into RapidAssault first, and QuartzInfusion+AvatarPhasing after.

Still keeping the pierce nodes tho, It's an awsome damage boost since I dont have an optmial gear for Crit yet... which seems to be the only reason to not go with pierce.

I like Raider tbh, my playstyle is more about fluid motion than anything (hence why I recommended FA when you're using a Harb). Took quick look at the tree and some comments + thoughts (LONG):

1. If you're gonna go to Duelist early on (which is good), I'd at least path to Fury Bolts if not Art of the Gladiator and Bravery. You get Strength, Projectile Damage, and then if you go further, more % Life and Eva. Just a really valuable pathing imo.

2. When I was leveling, I used Rallying Cry and one of the Mana Leech Nodes in the Vitality Void wheel along with a mana pot to sustain after I was doing enough damage. Imo you can Regret away the entire Essence Sap cluster if you want. I think after I got the Thicket Bow I found on Day 1 of the league I just put away the mana pot all together, TS was barely 7-8K at that point.

3. I tend to stay away from Jewel Sockets until I have a really good reason to get them (same with Frenzy Charges). This aligns with an early league mindset where I think if you have very low funding you should aim to be an efficient Dried Lake farmer until you gather enough currency to clear very well, aka you don't need a billion Frenzy charges when you're lacking in Life value or base damages. Look at these +1 types of nodes as bonuses, but not core to the tree. Others may disagree with my opinion a bit here, but it takes currency to get a good Jewel that is more efficient that the core nodes on the tree.

About GGGGR vs GGGBR (aka FA + Added Fire vs PTL + WED), the two Gem combinations are like comparing apples and oranges. FA is quality of life when using Harbinger type bows. Generally first 4 Links for me is TS/GMP/PPAD/FA anyways, with the 5th and 6th Link reserved for such utility gems. Just my viewpoints on WED in general on gear and tree, it's really more of a luxury so I don't even prioritize it in a low funds or Hardcore environment, because 99% of the time you will overpay for such gear, or try to get it when it isn't the most efficient move.

If you think about what a generic TS tree looks like, it's all Physical scaling. Hatred is elemental damage, but Physical scaling (same with Herald of Ash). So yeah, you can use WED gem to grow these values but at the end of the day, you get more out of higher Physical scaling at the beginnings of refining a build, especially things like Flat Physical rolls on Jewelry, Quiver, etc (and PPAD!). I didn't even consider WED gem or put in WED when looking for Rings/Amulet in this 2-Week Race, it's just not worth it and I focus on Life and Flat Physical instead.

================================================================================================

PTL can be good in combination with Lightning Arrow for 100% conversion (or if you like TS, you can buy Blackgleam quiver for 1 Alchemy) to use in Reflect Maps. Pretty good for Shocking enemies too. I just care less for it, since if you use PTL, you need WED gem really since PTL converts and doesn't add that much additional damage, so to get full value you need to have a 6th link, and that is expensive. Also monsters have resistances, so while tooltip DPS may look great, in practice it's quite a shitty way to go, unless you have to. I don't think leech is really any issue since new 2.1 Duelist leech wheel is very good and covers all leech issues at least for me.

Overall while building your links, imo the GGGG 4-core gems is most important if you are using Harbinger style bases, everything after that is your preference. I see Added Fire as the best value if you don't got a lot of Crit, mainly from what the tree progression is like. Once again, tons of Physical scaling, if you aren't ready to Crit, use Added Fire before much else. Gem setups in the main guide are pretty, uh, interesting, partially because I would never really use any of them as my "default setup" by any means. Link in my sig has some slightly outdated (although still pertinent information, in Chapter 5) on how to approach building your own linked skills given the situation.

Game is 100% situational. Short case study below:

Brief Example

My current bow in 2-week race. TS-GMP-PPAD-Added Fire-ICS

I skip Faster Attack here since Lioneye's is already very fast, so no need to use FA here to risk running out of mana. However, since Lioneye has a terrible base crit chance, I use ICS to balance this out. Result is still very smooth gameplay but decent crit values.

Prior to this I use random 4 link Thicket bow,

Same concept, very fast bow so I use TS-GMP-PPAD-Added Fire. I didn't have Tora 5 when I found this, so the crit value sucked and I had no way to fix it unless I got more links. So I stuck with Drillneck for only Physical scaling (tons of value with Added Fire).

I recently upgraded my Quiver and sold my Drillneck once I got ICS gem in Lioneye, giving me a reason to look for higher crit values.

Good luck, and stay alive!

Reporting in again at level 77.
Gear

Skilltree:

Tree isn't entirely optimized, I'd like to get rid of the attribute nodes like Coldhearted Calculation and Master of the Arena and the int node. Life is kinda low at only 3.7k, but that's what I get for using a tabula, haha. The damage also seems to be really lower than expected on a 6l, but then again, my gear is crap. I get about 30k LA and 27k TS. There is, however, a lot of hidden dps from chin sol and the deadeye ascendancy.

I've gone full pierce based, which is why I don't really get why my dps is that low. It would be nice to get better resist gear so I can get a full dps ammy, but I only have an exalt and a few chaos, so I'm torn between going for a Rat's Nest and Shadows and Dust, or getting better rares.

One last question, I've gotten endless munitions in my deadeye tree, what would it be best to spend the last two points on, fast and deadly, or powerful precision?

@Saranghaeyo, are you sure that Lioneye's is a better option than Chin Sol, especially since a well rolled one can cost a decent amount?
For try, for see, and for know.

This is a buff

Lioneye is a strong bow. A good lioneye is on par with a 280-290 pdps harbinger.

My current Lioneye is an above average roll and packs a similar punch in terms of hits to a ~250 pDPS Harbinger (as in, in terms of projectile damage, not APS). Factor in the Hits Can't be Evaded + higher APS and I wouldn't trade it for anything at the moment, especially since people aren't going that hard for Elreon 8, thus eliminating the option of crafting or buying a Harbinger this race.

Chin Sol is okay. I don't really want to be Tornado Shotting that closely though imo. It's great if you're gonna use Puncture Trap on switch.

All necessary gear acquired for the most part. Doing nothing but mapping the rest of the race. Let's hope I can catch up a little bit.

Overall playing as Duelist isn't too bad. Pathing to Heart of Oak is a little difficult, with current plan, can get it at 93. Last 7 points, if I make it, probably going straight to more life nodes. Currently at 4.9K Life, but need more as always. ~51K DPS with buffs, probably can go all the way to T13+ atm.

Strong gear for such a short time. Your amulet and quiver especially are super nice O_O.

Gear

Nice gear but throw a few divines on that Lioneye's Glare :D You could easily end up with a far better result. Divines are often dirt cheap in these events so it shouldn't be a big investment :D
