PVP is the End Game (IMO)
hey pvpers and pve player,
I have play a couple of online game over this 2 years namely LOL, D3 and lately POE etc..... LOL is fun just like old school dota and even better in same area. D3 auction house is a new gaming experience but the game itself......i dont know what to say POE imo is the closer rpg game that was fun and addictive compare to old school D2 However in an RPG game of this era. no matter how good the rpg element there have to be an end game. POE has the mapping system but in my view its still basically killing more difficult creeps all over again. it is not the true end game. i always felt that end game for an RPG online game is still pvp (FFA, open world PVP, structure PVP, team base PVP, ranking PVP). No pvp is balance in an rpg game but POE has the potential to become the most fun PVP atm compare to other game because of the massive passive tree which can grant us countless counter to different build. the fun part for me is to figure out the different build and their counter (the process is fun itself) unlike many other rpg game u just need items u win. thus i really hope that ggg should really spend some time thinking about this and it could possibly retain more players ten fold. I understand that there are many pve pro out there. i just speak from my own personal feeling about an rpg game and hope that you guys would support the pvp community too. thanks | |
I agree that PvP should be the real end-game in any RPG. While PoE has a big variety of builds available, especially in theory, when it comes to PvP'ing, at least for now - PoE has no balance and the way game is made just makes it feel generally too slow-paced and even less skill-based for good PvP. For me at least, regarding popular PvP games (like LoL) PoE should hold fine for the casual audience in the case of player skill and speed. Still, there would be a lot of balance issues with items/builds and people would cry endlessly about it.
I do not have much hopes for good PvP in PoE, but with time GGG will probably come out with some nice team-based PvP modes, as at least on paper this game can be quite nice for CtF team based PvP'ing imo, but hardly ever for 1 on 1 or death match, without crippling other aspects of the game. Give them time, there's stuff to do in game outside of PvPing. Though I find it strange and stupid how companies, no matter their budget comes out with games where implementing PvP is a patch/DLC. Even with all that, I must say I do enjoy friendly/for fun PvPs in PoE with friends for relaxing from PvM aspect and cut-throat races are a lot of fun as well, but in terms of competition between players and lasting value/immersion it has a lot of room to improve. Question is, how will they handle it without damaging PvM. | |
I come from a WOW PvP background so yeah yeah i totally agree with you they should introduce more PvP and rewards from it that way most people will be interested in playing it.
