Difficulty Attending Races as a University Student
Hello, I'd just like to start off with my view that the race system is pretty satisfactory. I've had fun doing races and I've never felt that there were huge glaring problems with the system. I've gotten a few 2nd shadows and quite a bit of 3rd shadow placements so overall good work on the races for a casual racer.
Which brings me to my next topic, as a casual racer I really cannot keep up with the race times since I also have to manage my schedule as a full-time university student. While the inherent balance of racing is out of my scope with my little experience/insight in competitive racing I can make a few remarks about the perceived time imbalance in the race schedule. First of all, you would be able to expect that more people are able to race during Friday nights and the weekends. However the race density during those times are not noticeably larger than weekdays. For a majority of people that are full-time students/workers this is the best time to relax and play POE, but some weekends there are like a max of 2 races that can be attended. I'd rather be racing all day on weekends. Second, the timezones favour people that are european/SEA/late-nighters a lot. I have to wake up early everyday to get to university so I cannot hope to stay up till 6 am doing the races. I'd like that there'd be multiple races that are targetted for easy morning, afternoon and evening access across all areas so a person who wants to race but doesn't want to ruin their sleep schedule can make it. So I liked racing a lot, however once I reached 141 points I realized that I could basically only attend like 2 races a week for the rest of the season due to a difficult schedule and that in the long run I could not reach the atziri's foible reward unless I sacrificed something in real life. I realize there are complications since adding more races will make the 600/1000 point benchmarks way easier to reach and less exclusive, but it would make the overall season more enjoyable for people that are not on the top season ladder. |
