GGG, this Runic Ward system needs a warning

GGG, this Runic Ward system needs a warning, a confirmation prompt, or a way to undo it.
I just bricked my entire endgame armor set because the system teaches you one behavior while leveling, then completely changes the rules later. From level 1–55, adding Runic Ward is basically free. So naturally, players get used to using it without fear. Then once you hit higher-level gear, suddenly it starts taking away huge amounts of your base defenses from armor/evasion/energy shield. I unfortunately did not have the time to read through most things that have changed since my last time playing in 0.1, since most of it can start to become confusing if you don't follow along with every update to the game. The problem is that the game throws a million new league mechanics, crafting systems, rune choices, gear checks, and endgame upgrades at you all at once. I was focused on building my character, improving my gear, learning the league, and pushing endgame. I applied Runic Ward to every piece of my endgame armor set thinking it worked like it had worked the entire time up to that point. Now my whole set is permanently altered and effectively ruined for my build. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be a tradeoff. I’m saying the tradeoff needs to be impossible to miss. There should be a clear warning like: “Warning: applying Runic Ward to this item will reduce its base defenses and cannot be undone.” Or there should be an option to remove/revert it, even if it costs currency. This isn’t a normal crafting mistake where I made a risky gamble and lost. This is a system that feels free for 55 levels and then quietly becomes destructive on the exact kind of expensive gear players care about most. Please consider adding a stronger warning, an undo option, or some kind of one-time fix for players who got caught by this. A lot of people are learning the new league systems at the same time, and this one is way too easy to misunderstand until the damage is already done. Last bumped on Jun 6, 2026, 2:22:26 PM

" Oh, I'm guessing "Deuse" means "two" in some foreign language. A language not used on this forum. |

Deuce is a common enough way to say two in english.
deuces Synonyms of deuce 1 a (1) : the face of a die that bears two spots (2) : a playing card bearing an index number two b : a throw of the dice yielding two points It is a more slang usage of the word 2 but it works perfectly fine. |

If there was a warning on your screen which somehow managed to be more obvious than literally showing you what the finished crafted item looks like, it still would not prevent many people from making this mistake. Some players are simply not able to reliably take in the information presented to them on their screens.
It is probably not a coincidence that many players making this mistake in PoE2 are leaving feedback about it in the PoE1 section of the forum. |
