[3.28]Summon Skeletons Iron Mass Occultist/Necro
|
Lead by example.
This is a build I've been meaning to share for a while with the Iron Mass unique. There's a higher investment version (with the Occultist) and a lower end investment version (with the Necromancer) OCCULTIST: https://poe.ninja/poe1/profile/Archliche-4323/mirage/character/MirageIronMass For the Necromancer, take Mindless Aggression, Bone Barrier, and Commander of Darkness. Ditch the Mageblood for a nice vise and the Melding of the Flesh for a defensive jewel. Replace the Forbidden Flesh and Flame for abyss jewels. Replace Purity of Lightning aura with Disipline Pros: +Excellent bosser +Can level using Summon Skeletons for most of the campaign, and then switch to swords setup somewhere around Acts 9-10 +Durable despite having only 2K usable life +Largely immune to crits and immune to bleed, CB, and elemental ailments. +Deas soley chaos damage, so no need to concern yourself with reflect or monster ES Cons: -Dies to big phys hits and most DoTs -Low investment Necromancer struggles with difficult, dense content such as high-end Breach -Difficult to build resists for, as most of our gear is Unique -Relies heavily on leech to restore life -High-investment Occultist requires a Mageblood to cover resists -Not exactly HC or SSF viable, especially for the Occultist variant - Not super fast zoom-zoom. GEAR AND SOCKETS:
Spoiler
Our namesake sword. Drops from Heist. You can Volatile Vaal this for more flat damage and attack speed. Double corrupting this means you lose on the accuracy which you're kinda starving for a small flat damage bonus and some extra attack speed. Not really worth it. PB grants us overleech and pairs very well with our amulet. Enlighten not required unless you're running the "You Count as Low Life at 55% or below" mastery.
Spoiler
Our offhand. Get the foulborn verison that offers flat crit. The default (chance for minions to wither on hit) or the other foulborn version (unholy might on kill) we already have. Generosity for the aura it gives (we don't care about our own damage) and your favorite movement skill. Drops from the Breach tree.
Spoiler
Our body. Corruption for gem levels not required. Our main skill is here for the high flat chaos this adds. Imbue with feeding frenzy so you can run Exemplar. Drops as a T2 unique. Swap Mulistrike for Melee Splash if you're mapping.
Spoiler
Our helmet. Where all of our auras sit. Gives us a massive amount of minions. Drops from the Incarnation of Dread. If you're running the lower investment Necromancer, replace Purity of Lightning with Disipline.
Spoiler
Defiance of Destiny here really synergies with Petrified Blood and us splitting damage between our ES and life.
Spoiler
Mageblood. Really fixes resists on the Occultist variant, but not required for the Necromancer variant. Replace it with whatever nice Stygian Vise you have for the Necromancer.
Spoiler
Our boots. Resistances, life, movespeed. Eldritch implicit for brittle ground. You can gun for avoid if you can't find enough on your jewels or using tattoos. This is where our offering setup with Cyclone sits. (This is also what we use to hit stuff.)
Spoiler
A ring. Minion damage, minion attack speed, life, resist, ideally a large chunk of regen. I've mirrored this with Kalandra's Touch.
Spoiler
While this pair of gloves is absolutely disgusting, you really just want minion damage. The abyssal socket is for CB immunity if you can't get it on any other jewel, and extra bleed avoid. See if you can get flat non-elemental damage or swing speed on it.
Spoiler
The jewels. Flesh/Flame for Bone Armor is not needed for the Necromancer, replace it with abyss jewels. The timeless jewel has to be Caspirio: we can barely afford to gear for attributes, and opening access to mass tattoos is extremely helpful for shoring up ES and ailment avoidance. Nodes should be block chance and at least one endurance charge when hit node.
ASCENDANCY AND BLOODLINE For both the high investment Occultist and the lower investment Necromancer, take the Saresh bloodline, allocating Afarud Ritual. This provides a large chunk of free minion damage with Blessed Rebirth. For the Occultist, take Void Beacon, Vile Bastion, and Profane Bloom. For the Necromancer, take Mindless Aggression, Bone Barrier, and Commander of Darkness. Bone Barrier provides a very nice amount of leech and some PDR. Vile Bastion provides ES regen and Profane Bloom scales with our minions if they cause the explosion. (Look, I gave Profane Bloom 7% base crit!). Void Beacon reduces enemy resists. The minion body-block problem It's apparent that minions can body-block each other, preventing them from attacking a single target effectively. For most white mobs this is irrelevant, but for bosses this can actually be a problem. With a whopping 28 minions, this should be quite apparent for us, no? Apparently not, as most pinnacles are big enough to let all our minions surround them, and most rares that aren't extremely resistant, Soul Eaters, or supercharged with wisps die quite fast. The end result The end result is a build that can kill pinnacles very quickly (31mil) and Ubers somewhat comfortably(10 mil) but can get started for a very small chaos fee.
