I quit after Harvest league and I was about to quit again... bc of a migration blunder

So I played during Harvest league back in 2020 and then I stopped because I found the crafting system too disappointing in its reliance on RNG and currency churning, instead of incremental and deterministic methods - and mind you, this was during Harvest.

I came back this league to give it another go and this time I decided to have a SSF experience. SSF is nice in a lot of ways, but there are really big bottlenecks in some crafting areas that were preventing me from having fun with some more advanced methods I was really excited to try out. The most important bottlenecks were 1) how difficult it is to get a Putrid Cloister map to learn the metacraft 'Can have up to 3 crafted modifiers' and 2) how difficult was to get influenced crafting bases - even using wasteful methods like getting influence Orbs from bosses and then re-rolling the influence in the Hortocrafting station, whereas in the standard league those bases cost just a few chaos. The difference in accessibility in both cases has to be at least 2 or 3 orders of magnitude, to the point of going from trivial access in Standard to feeling almost impossible in SSF.

So I decided to migrate. As I said I haven't played in a long while and I never played SSF before, so the migration warning about this being my last SSF character (it was my fist and only, wtf?) and the option to 'migrate all' seemed confusing to me. I had read it several times, but I never really understood the meaning / the consequences. So I clicked 'migrate' instead of 'migrate all' because the message as it was written didn't pair in my mind with its meaning. So imagine my surprise when I went to buy a Putrid Cloister map and didn't have enough currency. Not only that, my entire stash was gone and so was my Atlas progress. At first I thought this was the rule for migrations and I had missed it somehow. But then I created a new SSF character to be able to read the warning again and it was at this time that I fully understood what the warning was about.

I emailed support, which was very nice and quick, only they couldn't do anything about it. I lost everything I had, except the gear in my inventory. I didn't think I had the will the continue playing like this. Maybe I'd stop for a few years again. It was very disheartening, especially when there could be a grace period in place allowing the player to reverse their decision. I expect I wasn't the first person to experience this and I won't be the last. 5 minutes grace period would be more than enough to realise my mistake, revert the migration process and re-do the migration correctly.

I mulled about this for a couple of days, thinking about what to say in this post. And then as I was writing it, I created a new SSF character to have another look at the warning message so I could offer clearer alternatives. As I was doing this, without any SSF characters in my account, I noticed the Migration button was still available. So I wondered if my stash had in fact been deleted, or just left intact in the SSF league. To test this before blindingly pressing another button, I created a new SSF character, killed Hillock and entered LW. The stuff was all there! That was a relief. On the other hand I'm feeling disappointed that the Customer support people didn't understand my issue completely, didn't care or didn't know about offering this fix for my problem.

So I got my Stash stuff back, and the Atlas progress too. I will have to re-make the 3 Atlas trees and I now have a bunch of remove-only stash tabs, which is a bad thing bc of the time it will take to put stuff back in its proper place, but also good bc I have extra empty tabs and I can take stuff out from the old ones at my leisure.

I hope this experience would be of use to other people in the future.
Or GGG changes the migration message to be more clear and also update the Support staff on how to help other people that fall into a similar situation. Cheers!
