Option to hide the quest list

Can we have a little button to hide this like we do for map modifiers? I appreciate the kindness for telling me what to do next but truly it only clutters the screen, especially in the late game when there are 4+ "atlas missions".

Your little button can be found in the Options -> UI -> enable Quest Tracking. Disable it for your purpose.
