Setting defaulting when playing on 2 systems

I sometimes play on an Xbox one S when my brother is playing on the Series X. I noticed that 2 settings specifically are getting defaulted once I switch from Xbox one S to Series X. The setting is shadow and the setting where you set the resolution if I want no upscale or if I want to downscale the resolution. These 2 settings are set to default every time I switch back and forth. I think since these 2 settings don't exist on the old systems it might be causing this issue. It is a minor inconvenience but if you can solve this issue it would be nice.
