Poe's approach to hard content
|
Diablo 2, back in the day: devs realize Iron Maiden curse in Chaos sanctuary makes it so all melee builds can't farm/clear chaos sanctuary, they remove it to solve the issue.
GGG: People are skipping reflected elemental damage and such so they don't have to address it with their builds. Let's put magic and rare monsters that reflect ailments, just to force them to address it. That's like if Diablo 2 would have said: well let's put the Iron Maiden curse everywhere actually, not just in the chaos sanctuary, but drop it to 50% returned phys damage. 'The content is too hard': Let's put up to 2-3 mods of extra phys dmg as cold/fire/light/chaos on maps, and ALSO on monsters. Worst case: 130% extra dmg as cold, 130% as fire on map mods + extra dmg as chaos AND extra dmg as fire on rare monster modifiers. How much is that? 520%?. Ok Let's add Always crits just for the kicker. So 650%? You're getting one shot even when applying all defensive layers and with over 10k hours in the game? Sounds about right, that's how we balance a game. Way to go. Last edited by JmLamb#0572 on Apr 4, 2026, 9:06:30 AM Last bumped on Apr 4, 2026, 9:26:36 AM

D2 still has immunities that need to be sundered with a charm that you need to get from t5 terrorized, which means sitting in the same game to have a chance at it.
In your same spirit of logic they should remove every mod just because you cannot get elemental reflect...The level of entitlement . Never invite Vorana, Last To Fall at a beer party.
