In the 1 Month Hardcore Race, Once over do you convert to normal Hardcore

Question is simple. Just wondering because I know it is almost over and I want to play hardcore and wouldnt mind doing it in the 1 month with only a week left if I was moved to regular hardcore.

yes, it's like this for all hardcore races. if you survive the entire duration of the race, your character moves to hardcore when the race is over. if you die at any point, you're moved to default immediately.

Next question, in the 3 hour races. There is always just 1 or two people who discover zones like they know exactly where they are. As if they are cheating. I understand leveling is easy, I level pretty fast but I can't hit level 24 in 48 minutes which I feel there is something being exploited. I seen a guy hit level 41 in 3 hours... Discovered every zone within seconds of each other. I feel it is impossible for a guy with starter weapon to run strait to the jailhouse at level 3 and kill anything.
