[Steam] Game close after char selection

As soon as I click 'Enter' to play with my character, the loading screen freezes and the game crashes. This doesn't happen if I start the game without a league character — at least, not instantly. In normal league, I can walk five steps before it crashes.
Happens mostly in Highgate Act 8? 9?
So far, I have tried:

- new character
- other character
- delete shader
- repair function

The only other thing I can do is download the standalone version of the game.
But it will take so long to download...

Does anyone have the same problem or have a solution?

I'm running this on linux and was completely unable to load anyone after char select.

I had to download the stand alone non-steam version and i was finally able to go into char select.

Thats what I had to do too! Now it is running smoothly with the standalone client.
