Servers maybe shouldn't "fast forward" after slowdown / server lag?

It's a fairly common experience when the servers experience degraded server side performance (e.g. from spark of unpredictability, dropping too many items like in affliction league, server bugs like old doedre's skin totem memory leak, or the current DDOS issues) to have your lockstep game run at a very low tick rate followed by an insane speedup (game running at many times normal speed).
I think it would be better if the servers didn't fast forward, as the player is likely to lose control during that period as it can't really be anticipated (stuff like rare volatiles is particularly an issue here). Maybe there's some big technical issue with that? But it would be nice to see it changed. Last bumped on Mar 15, 2026, 3:41:38 AM

same shit here. ping, shader, CPU spikes. this season its worst as ever.

They should have 10 cent send somebody to come in and rewrite the net code because it is shit but usually manageable. This league it is absolutely unplayable all of the lag
