The new lineage.. ehm sorry, exceptional gems are as bad as their poe2 counterparts

I mean, its already in the title. Yes some of them are not bad, but most? most have maybe some niche uses. And hey, that would actually be fine, but then you removed many of the useful awakened gems.

Did you guys actually try to play any poison or direct casting build in the last 5 years? They are not meta because trigger totem etc are already vastly superior. But with removing scaling awakened gems (like void manipulation or added fire which both gave gem level) awk. controlled destruction with unnerve etc you made those build even weaker.

And for poison, (or toxic rain etc) its even worse with void manipulation deadly ailments swift affliction etc. all gone.

Yeah sure for meta builds its maybe a ~5 to 10% power loss but to the rest?

And the new gems? What is with you needing to give everything a downside or some annoying restriction to build around? Most of your new gems are DoA and thats kind of sad...

aw well just my 2 cents, maybe the future will show I was wrong and some new meta will come... but currently we only seem to have either kinetic fusillade totems or elemental hit players(about +50% of the playerbase)... weird I tell you.

I actually agree for the most part regarding downsides on gem. I think it works fine on unique items, but with gems it kind of became to much. It is the same with the gems in poe 2. I am not a huge fan of how they work.
What's funny to me is that crit builds that do the most damage by far are hardly affected by this. Hells, some are way stronger than before.

Meanwhile poison builds, quite a few minion builds, other dot builds and tons of off-meta builds got hit like crazy.

I love the idea of having more unique gems instead of awakened gems, but 70-80% of the new gems are just bad and dull as hell.
