Legacy Standard Maps Trashed by 3.28 Migration
|
The recent migration was extremely rude to legacy maps, I would say to the point of being a bugged migration:
- "Map Area" was erased from all non-blighted legacy maps. The fact that blighted maps retained "Map Area" indicates that it would have been possible to preserve legacy maps with "Map Area" intact, but the migration neglected to do that. - Implicits have been erased from (all? most?) legacy maps. This includes legacy Vaal Temple maps, which are now quite silly to run, since their strongboxes are missing. Note that corrupting legacy t16s can turn them into properly formed Vaal Temple maps with the implicit intact, so this was another aspect that the migration neglected. - Enchants have been erased from (all? most?) legacy maps, including (!!!) layers of delirium. This results in silliness like delirium map tabs being full of non-delirium maps. New maps can drop with layers of delirium, so again, this is indicative of a sloppy migration. I'm reasonably sure this will be shouting into the void, and there's little chance this migration can or will be rolled back or unbroken... But for standard players it feels astonishing and disappointing that so much game history was wiped out. (All of this is not even to mention the fact that most of the bosses in the new atlas cannot be accessed...) OK, so I'm glad to see I'm not going insane. Still pissed that so many of my maps have been destroyed (like all my Delirium/Vaal temple ones) but at least I'm not hallucinating.
I've been hoarding Forge of the Phoenix maps because that's the one I like to run and since yesterday I've been unable to run a single one of them. Maze of the Minotaur is accessible but that's it. I feel like the new Map system has sucked the soul out of map items. Instead of finding map items with unique/diverse glyphs like it's been before, you now find generic items with roman numerals that seem out of place. |

YAY! Deli maps were restored with a hotfix... now maybe the dropped implicits can be restored too?
I see now how it might require another node in the atlas, maybe "distant lands" analogous to "blighted lands", if the map areas were also restored. Presumably the 1-1 vendor recipe for maps from previous map series would be available for people who did not want their old map areas restored. |
