Coin of Knowledge / Power / Skill will corrupt a level 20 gem and "imbue" it with a random support gem. Some level 1 support gems may be more desirable as an imbued than others but it'll depend on each skill. Also two things: level 21 gems + imbued are not possible AFAIK, I think the same is true for vaal gems + imbued. If GGG commented on this then please share.

My first thought of a skill gem that kinda doesn't care about level 21 and doesn't have a vaal version is earthshatter. The build probably nerfed during progression as there's no Tree / gambling / Shipping to give you a free +700pdps axe. But in the endgame perhaps some imbued supports could off-set the nerfs to overexertion support and lower effectiveness of earthshatter; with the extra mana cost. Fishing for a good imbued support gem I hope is not an awful experience. Another consideration is if the skill gem is a transfigured gem, which means more lab running if you continually fail to acquire a decent imbued outcome.

Caustic arrow has a vaal version thats pretty nice, and you kinda want a level 21 gem. Takes some time to get a 21/20 vaal CA ... but is it worth giving this up for an imbued CA, something for PoB. Blade vortex I'm guessing you'll want the 21/20 vaal BV instead of an imbued BV but maybe I'm wrong.
