How should my char be strengthening themselves now?

For the current league (I know there's not much time left), my char twirligig. It feels like I'm not really improving the char much at this point. Thanks to the leagues borrowed power I've finally managed to defeat maven, and the elder in shapers realm. But I'm not getting much useable loot from any of pinnacles; I play SSF style, so even though it's not officially an ssf character, I mostly play like it is, just trying out using the currency exchange this league. I don't want to trade for rare stuff I couldn't get myself; I just use it to get fusings, catalysts, and oils, without the tedium of doing those mechanics.

I think I have my chars linked/settings properly so they're visible, if not let me know.

I've been trying to get a better armor, but I haven't had much luck in quite a while of provisionings. The odds on chaosing into a better armor with influenced mods seem poor, as its hard to reliably get the other mods in a good place compared to what you can get from the genesis tree. I plan to try making a +1 frenzy charge gloves once I find a suitable warlord base or a warlord exalted orb. Aside from that, and trying to roll a somewhat better ring and put resistance catalysts on it, I'm not seeing much that I can feasibly improve with what I can defeat. Finding awakened gems is slow, and even if I manage to find the right ones, its only a very mild damage boost. Once I settle on a final armor I'll try pushing a few of the exarch/eater mods on my stuff to lvl 5, and I'll keep trying to get a +max life +max life % belt. But I can't see much else to do that I can afford to and is likely to get anywhere.

There are two tools that are very useful to get better at building characters in PoE:

Path of Building: An app that lets you customize your character as if you were in game while watching your damage and other stats change in real time far more accurately than in game. The app also recommends you what gems will add more damage to your skills and you can even sort a list of unique items by how much more total dps they'd be adding to your build.

POENinja A website were you can browse builds and see what do people build. You can look for the highest damage characters and see what items they have.

As for your build itself there's several problems. First, your weapon is very weak. Take into consideration that Brutality Support removes all your non-physical damage (and you have elemental damage fractured in your sword and some extra in one ring and an abyssal jewel, that damage is completely negated).
If I were you, I'd try to get a better weapon from shipments or the tree. You can get surprisingly good weapons from shipments if you check the cheat sheet online.
For reference:

If you have divs to metacraft it's not hard to make a weapon like this. Don't use chaos for crafting. The best way, generally (and unless you get a good base from the tree or kalguur, etc) is to slam essences until you get 2-3 desired prefixes/suffixes. Then metacraft with [prefixes/suffixes] cannot be changed (to protect whatever 2-3 mods you want) and then use horticrafting to get at least one other good mod that you may need (you may have to repeat this process several times so you better have a surplus of divines) and then slam a warlord exalted orb (or similar) and lastly a crafted mod. That's what I did with that sword.

Also, your point distribution is very inefficient. You could annoint Frenzy instead of D&T in your amulet and gain 12 points that could be invested elsewhere.
Personally, I would:
- Ignore unnecessary small nodes (like the ones you have put into life).
- Focus more on impale. You have 2 very important notables missing. Get the "impales ignore phys reduction" mastery as well.
- Get the physical mastery to have 50% chance to ignore enemy phys reduction (now you'll have 100% together with Bastion Breaker).
- Swap poacher's mark for Assassin's mark (crit is the highest form of damage scaling in the end game if I'm not mistaken) and get the sword mastery to get frenzy charges vs uniques.
- You can either swap Brutality for Fortify (to get the extra elemental damage on your gear) or Damage on Full Life for Fortify and that way you save 5 skill points to use elsewhere.
- I'd suggest focusing on spell suppression. After phys damage reduction, I'd argue it's the most noticeable defense layer there is.
- I think it'd be better to get a good rare helmet rather than using Rat's Nest. I'm pretty sure character size affect cyclone area reach as well. You can get a boost in life, resistances and even mana reservation efficiency this way. Or you can get abyssus and YOLO it since the season is ending anyway.
- What's your accuracy rating? You don't seem to have much. Make sure your hit chance is 100%.

That's my opinion anyway. Best of luck.
I would drop your melee dmg on full life gem for pulverize gem so you can get some aoe and not be dependent on being at full life for dmg.
