POE1, Quill Rain max out at 3 sockets???

Getting Maximum Socket error on my Quill Rain and cant go higher than 3 sockets. Quit reset and same issue. On separate character I have 6 sockets, and can buy 6 socket Quill Rain.

Socket maximums are based on the item level of the item (not the level requirement, the actual item level).

You need iLvl 25 for 4 sockets, 35 for 5 sockets, and 50 for 6 sockets.

However, there is a way to bypass this. If you use the crafting bench recipe, it can set a specific number of sockets without regard for item level. FYI, the cost of the 6S bench recipe is 350 jewelers orbs.

If you're in a trade league, it would probably be cheaper to buy a Quill Rain that already has 6 sockets on it.
