Easy anti-botting async trade fix
|
Add people into a pool for a short period of time and randomly choose the winner.

bots are definitely going to make me quit the game. Nothing is more frustrating. It's like Black Friday, but only masked guys are allowed into the store ><

How is this in any way a fix for bots?

" It's a fix against the most enraging part of them, that is them absolutely crushing item snapping. Instead of them winning 100% of the time against everyone else they'd only get a random chance based on the player pool who are trying to buy the item. Not a fix against one that would just function like a human but never sleep - but unless that was done over multiple accounts that would also be the most obvious thing to spot if ggg cares. They'd have to have actual solid detection to counter those. What is the most frustrating part is the first case, the latter one would hardly if at all be noticeable by players and not mess with their enjoyment of the game. If there was a time limit (like all bids placed within the first 5 minutes) it'd be more fair.
But yes, bots are WAY out of control in PoE. F2P games are just plagued with bots, it's insane. One prime example of this is when picking names, after becoming frustrated with all the names I wanted being taken, I once mashed my keyboard in anger and clicked create character and the name was taken. Not even a joke, dead serious. That's how bad things have become, and that was about three years ago. Sad state of affairs of what this game has become with no proper bot banning moderation. |
