My feedback for the new uber encounters
|
Just tried out all 3 uber encounters for funsies.
Done with a crit holy relic necro, about 60m dps, 4.5k life/es, mid block, some armor. Neglect was really neat, I like how his statue buddies are the line of sight blockers - thats a really cool design. That said, I think he needs at least 50% more raw beef (hitpoints) to sell the fight. His turbo nova could use slightly better telegraphing at a glance, the visual effect (other than the statues sitting down which I only noticed was important afterwards) doesn't really stand out near enough for a blast that big (exarch turbonova is a good benchmark). Dread felt about perfect. His abilities were well telegraphed, threatening, and did well crowding out the arena without being overwhelming. I really liked that the roses spawn from the mini bosses instead of waiting for zana to get around to it, that is a huge improvement over the base fight. I'm not wholeheartedly convinced that the dot floors need to despawn at phase transitions; as much as I normally hate degen floor in pinnacle encounters, it actually kind-of works okay when you can control where it lands, a-la-maven and/or shaper. Fear was an absolute pansy. I killed it before I saw any part of what is practically different about the fight, other than the beams connecting him to his balls. Looks-quacks-and-shoots-like-diablo-but-definitely-isnt-for-legal-reasons needs at least double the hitpoints to make anything of the fight. Now, I realise 60m dps is not exactly entry level where you would first encounter uber fights, but its not exactly setting any world records either; most of the uber pinnacles at 60m dps live long enough to show you all of their abilities at least once or twice, but I'm not convinced Fear made it through a full set. one very important note: degen pools do not affect your build pretty much at all. try them with something that cannot offscreen and actually needs to be at precise spot to deal damage
these damn degen pools, frequently invisible/blending with the background - esp Uber Sirus - are absolutely unfair to builds that cannot simply move to the side and continue with dps if you do these fights with the like of short ranged, direct damage (aka - no DoT, no proxies, no minions) and think they are fine - ok, but until then you are commenting on someone's else situation without truly understanding it |

" Actually it’s pretty easy to deal with as a melee. Most fights are honestly easier because you can dodge stuff more easily and react faster when you’re aggressively hugging the boss like your life depends on it. At that point it feels less like a fight and more like an extremely violent cuddle. Hands down melee builds have the upper hand here. Sirus degen pools are definitely awful yeah, and I'm not over fond of them in cortex or exarch either; like I said, normally I hate them. I don't mind them when you get to control through counterplay where they land, ie in maven, shaper, elder to an extent, and now incarnation of dread, and I actually thought they fit really well with how dread plays, thus why I question this one time if they need to be cleared on phase transition.
RE easier as melee, no small part of that comes from that the safest place to be to most of the pinnacle bosses is right in their face, where a) you don't have to go nearly as far to dodge their cones, and b) they are likely to pick a basic swat over a big scary blast. Eater is the only real exception there, since he doesn't really have a melee or any cones that are any easier or harder to dodge at a screen's pace away (though if succumb goes while you're offscreen I do concede its a lot of trouble). Addendum: can we talk about how incarnation of fear yells "BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" sometimes while hes firing his laser? I think he regains all points removed for technical design on that alone.
