PoE unplayable on PC - deadly-freezing on loading screen
|
Hey,
just wondering if someone had a similar issue, or may know any fix for that. laptop Win 10, gpu: Nvidia Geforce GTX 950M, cpu: intel i5 6300HQ, 8GB RAM I know my setup is highly outdated and a brick compared to nowadays setups, but I used to play without any issues at all even few months ago, besides an increased laptop's fans usage. My current issue: 1. Launch PoE (standalone client, not a steam one) 2. Login screen appears. Logging in, choosing my character. 3. Clicking 'Play'. Loading screen for Twilight Strand appears. Few seconds in, PoE is frozen and a windows popup appears: 'PathOfExile.exe is not responding' 4. Strands map doesn't even appear on screen. All of this happen during the loading screen. Happens every time. It was occurring during the previous league too. 'hm, maybe this league's patch notes introduced some bugs for setups like mine' - I then thought and decided to wait for a new league. Keepers of the Flame started - and nope... still having the same exact problem. after some unsuccessful googling attempts, I also tried modifying /My Games/Path of Exile/production_Config.ini configs. changed renderer_type/device_type to combinations of DirectX 11/12, 11/11, 12/11... without any success. This game just has no optimization, and the minimum requirements on Steam are a lie at this point. You have a PC better than the minimum, yet the game doesn't work. That just sucks.
They just keep making the performance worse with every patch, because they clearly don't have enough time for this 4-month cycle for both games. Or at the very least, they don't have time to optimize or bugfix anything. Patches just get pushed out and they hope it works. The best we can hope for is some real optimization next league. And acknowledgement of all the issues people are having with different hardware. |

Thanks a lot for the replies!
" surprisingly enough, I changed the productiong_config.ini file one more time. This time I changed renderer_type to Vulkan, but also changed the device_type to Vulkan, too (before the changes, I had device_type set to DirectX11). now I can enter the Twilight Strand with newly created character. the game is "playable". the game is only "playable" because even though the map [eventually] loads successfully... it takes a lot of time. like a few minutes every time a map loads. entering Lioneye's Watch takes like 5-6 minutes before the town map gets loaded. here's the LatestClient.txt: https://pastebin.com/NwXvs5iB |
