Frequent crashing on a new PC
|
Hiya, iv been a long time player 10,289 hours in steam while playing on my older pc. I recently bought a new pc for a lot of money that's close to double the power of my old pc (never had any crashes on my old pc) and im really struggling to be able to play comfortably as I have received a lot of crashes and iv ran out of ideas to try and fix them myself. everything I know I have tried to no avail. I would love if you can give me any idea I can try I have not thought off. my temps / task manager all looked fine.. atleast to me
Here is a short youtube video clip. I managed to catch the crash while recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzV9RGwWTVg what iv tried so far: Game Platform: Steam dx11 - got what seems to be abit of screen tearing kind of. like a line of frosted glass would go up and down over the screen dx12 - smoothest yet, but occasionally I would get a black screen and the GGG loading cogs appear, or poe just randomly closing vulkan - was fine but I kept getting a lot error pop ups and crashes "VK::Queue::submit: ErrorDeviceLost" fresh installs of POE (via steam) running the game with nothing else on the pc open removing shader files all low-high settings (or recommended settings in Nvidia) disabled windows game bar, steam overlay, discord overlay, nvidia overlay disabled hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling Windows -> System -> Display -> Graphics -> Custom check if PoE is listed if not add the .EXE and set to High Performance. disabled Nvidia Audio pc power mode from balanced / power saver fresh install nvidia game ready driver update all drivers pc system stress test made sure all hardware firmly in place and nothing was loose at exactly 21:47 (the time of the crash in the video linked) I can see this error in event viewer: Faulting application name: PathOfExileSteam.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x693b7b5e Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.26100.7462, time stamp: 0x9225342c Exception code: 0xc0000374 Fault offset: 0x00000000001176b5 and another right before it Faulting application name: PathOfExileSteam.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x693b7b5e Faulting module name: PathOfExileSteam.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x693b7b5e Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x0000000002a95b52 PC Speccs Operating system: windows 11 home 64bit (10.0 build 26200) Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 7500f 6-core processor (12 cpu's) ~3.7 Ghz Ram: 32GB DirectX version: DirectX 12 GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti Last edited by mad_man_moose#5301 on Dec 13, 2025, 9:30:42 PM Last bumped on Dec 31, 2025, 11:32:39 AM

i think i have found the solution, in Nvidia Control Panel the nvidia cache size was default, changing it to a bigger size / unlimited seems to have helped, il probably update tomorrow aswell to say if i have anymore crashes after changing it
for those of you who also had the problem this is what i did: edit your Nvidia Shader Cache size, open the NVIDIA Control Panel, go to Manage 3D settings > Global Settings, find Shader Cache Size, and choose a larger value (like 100GB) or "Unlimited" from the dropdown, then click Apply |

Hi.
I have relatively the same problem, but for POE2 Tried the fixes you did without any luck, guess this is a problem across multiple of their games... |

" sadly, even though the shaders on the f1 statistics wasnt staying at max all the time... this did not fix crashing i have reinstalled windows, ran memory diagnostics and still crashing too much... and now iv exhausted all options to my knowledge lets hope someone has found a fix / solution "Faulting application name: PathOfExileSteam.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x693b7b5e Faulting module name: PathOfExileSteam.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x693b7b5e Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x0000000000dc673a Faulting process id: 0x4AB0 Faulting application start time: 0x1DC6F8B3EE8184A Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Path of Exile\PathOfExileSteam.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Path of Exile\PathOfExileSteam.exe Report Id: dffe03e6-ced6-42a9-a275-c33c4097eb4a Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: " Last edited by mad_man_moose#5301 on Dec 17, 2025, 3:23:49 PM

Yep, shaders are cooked and the game has non-existant optimization.
+1, hopefully we see some real optimization in 3.28. Because if these problems aren't fixed then more people will just quit. |

absolutely nothing, tried reinstalling windows and setting to high prio in task manager... they happen a little less but im still getting the game randomly closing, or it would go to a black screen with the GGG loading cogs

" Sadly just gotta wait for them to optimize the game properly. Its been like this for a few patches now in both PoE 1 and PoE 2. |

i dont want to jinx it.... but 3 hours now and no crash.
what i did: (commant prompt as admin) Run the System File Checker command: sfc /scannow and press Enter. (this result said some corrupted files) After that, run the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) command: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image/RestoreHealth |

Im also getting very frequent crashes that seem to be the same issue, maybe once a map or 2. had nothing like that last league.
Ive noticed that my ssd gets random spikes to 100% usage sometimes and its always then that the game will become unresponsive and crash. GGG pls help us, this is becomming unbrearable |
