Aul Bloodline is too tedious
|
Hello,
I want to try Aul's bloodline ascendancy, but fighting Aul is a little different because: - it's one of the few bossfights I can't just BUY from other players. This sucks so much, especially because I am not enjoying the Delve Mechanic: - I have to dedicate one of my mapping skill trees to Delve - I get to travel 3 nodes in Delve and then I have to restock sulphurite - Each node takes FOREVER to complete - I have to first find a way down from level 101 --> 130 - I have to mine sideways for a 5% chance to find the right biome - I have to hope the biome contains the boss - the entire mechanic is an escort quest - the average person does not enjoy this - screw souleater mobs Please make this less torturous. I want out of the mines. I hate it. Thanks for listening to my complaint. Last bumped on Dec 29, 2025, 3:55:01 PM

You can buy Aul through carries, although it gets harder to find them later in a league. Scarabs help you fill up your sulphite really fast, and once you have enough it is worth pushing deeper since that is where your chances of encountering the fight go up. Just make sure you upgrade your sulphite capacity so you can stay down there longer before having to refuel in maps.
I am not completely sure about your exact situation, but if you are already struggling with "long" encounters at these early depths it might be better to focus on gearing up your character first. Get comfortable in red maps, then start delving further. If you keep rotating between running maps, spending your delve juice, going back to maps, and diving again, you will eventually find an Aul. If you're interested in some advice from someone with literally thousands of hours spent delving, don't try to find Aul by going sideways. You actually have considerably less than a 5% chance of finding Aul at depth 131; I don't know where you got that number but you're off by more than an order of magnitude.
I don't want to derail this thread entirely with (what I wish I didn't have to call) a deep dive into how delve nodes are generated, so I'll give you the quickest possible version: As you explore the delve, the game generates biomes according to some personal RNG seed tied to your account and the league you are in. The odds of a biome generating as any given type vary with depth, with some becoming less common and others becoming more common, until depth 500. The Primeval Ruins, which is the necessary biome to spawn an Aul encounter, begins at depth 110 with a 0% chance and scales up to a 2.6% chance at depth 500 (and beyond). So at depth 500, only one in every 40 biomes you reveal will be a primeval depths and thus have even a possible chance of containing Aul. If you are below depth 500, the odds are CONSIDERABLY less; at depth 135, for instance, the primeval ruin spawn rate is less than 0.4%. So you should expect to find a single primeval biome less than one time in 250, if you're only heading sideways at 130. Go DOWN. |

What kind of build stats are we looking at for a depth of 500? Aren't mobs scaled like crazy at that level? I'm 4m dps, 80k ehp - is this good enough or do I also need a Delve specific build? The point still stands: Compared to the other bloodlines, this one is FORCED participation in content I just don't enjoy. |

" You don't need a delve specific build to reach 500, and you don't need to reach 500 to find Aul. It's just a mathematical fact that your odds of finding him increase with depth (up to 500), so you should be going as far down as your build is capable of clearing, NOT heading horizontally at the minimum depth capable of spawning the encounter. Your point doesn't stand, though, because it's not forced at all. Nobody is making you choose to play a build which "needs" this bloodline, and you can always buy a completion from other players. The game is balanced around trade, so not using trade is a self-imposed handicap. Also, just for the record: Farrul is FAR rarer and harder to find than Aul is for players determined to do this sort of thing in SSF, so your complaint wouldn't be true even if it were valid. |

The problem is first the system and how it was introduced.. then it comes with the massive heavy price of ascendency points. Then the way to get said ascendencies. And last but not less important how underpowered some of those ascendencies are for the prices you have to pay for them.
Delve, expedition and sanctum instantly comes to mind when it comes to bloodlines. There needs to be a way better solution to get them and a better tunning pass for said sub ascendencies in general specially if they are a permanent thing from now on "Parade your victories, hide your defeats. Mortals are so insecure."
Take me back when poe was the actual focus. |

" ^ Even Farrul is purchasable. Why are we talking about SSF? No, I'm the idiot for thinking insta-buy listings for Breach or King of the Mists =/= buying a boss service. Fair enough. |

Just killed Aul at depth 214. The bloodline ascendancy seems useless to my RF build though.
Side note: Only 6K health and <1M dps. Last edited by R28666#7050 on Dec 29, 2025, 9:42:49 AM

Yes he seems the most extreme to get to. You also need to be below 200 depth for the chance to become somewhat significant enough to start encountering him. Delve is rather profitable to do though since fossils fetch a good price atm especially in hardcore. The Aul bloodline ascendancies do seem kind of underwhelming though like most of the bloodline ascendancies. They really trimmed down the power of them because I guess they were afraid of breaking the game? It seems most of them are far weaker than regular ascendancy nodes.

" I'd imagine thats not the ascendancy of choice for RF, yea. “Freedom is what we do with what is done to us.”
