Need Feedback & Upgrade Suggestions for my RF Chieftain + some questions

Hey guys :)

could you please take a look at my Righteous Fire Chieftain and tell me what you would improve with 5–20 divines?

I’m leaking a bit on defences (one-shots) and my single-target damage also feels low. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Here are my questions:

Why do some people farm Gold? What’s the purpose/benefit?

When I vendor a Purity of Fire lvl 20 + 1 GCP, I don’t get a lvl 1 / 20% quality gem. Any idea why this recipe doesn’t trigger?

What do you think about switching the whole armour setup to Energy Shield, similar to this high-level build here?

Hit level 94 and add a Cluster Jewel

Upgrade all gems to 21/20

Rob,

You yourself are not ignited when you are using RF. You are burning. The foulborn chest is not giving you extra damage. Down the road, change your chest out to a regular cloak of flame with a +1 gems or +1 max resists corruption.

You need to find that extra 6% chaos res to cap out for degens. Start there for cheap fixes given how great the tree spits out gear. You could find something rare with fractured life/chaos resistance for just 1-5c.

You need to find a way to cut out vitality and switch to malevolence. Work your way to Hearty just above Barbarism and you should be able to swap. This will greatly improve your damage once you switch.

As far as other upgrades with the cash you have... you have a couple of routes.

Defiance of Destiny to make you much tankier - full stop. Big hit to your money but it is a great way to improve your survivability.


Otherwise...
1) If you change up your jewels to include max fire resistance and/or
2) Change your rings to the +2 max fire res Enthalpic rings from the breach map boss (use chaos resistance essence on them to get what you need)

You can then drop the Rise of the Phoenix - and switch to a few other shield types. You could go Prism guardian for your auras. That would let you respec out of all of those nodes for your upcoming cluster jewel you are working towards.

You could also switch to a rare shield with life regen, 30% reservation efficiency (Hunter/Shaper influenced) and useful stats.

You could switch to an influenced stygian (hunter) for %life rolls/regen to drop the immortal flesh.

Lastly, you ultimately want to be able to support Hateful Accuser ring. You mark the enemy, then kill the phantasms that spawn to create an explosion on the boss. BIG burn damage and will open up most bosses. See Pohx's latest information about this.

Looked at your char saw stuff you could improve gear wise like your weapon could have double dot multi... but you probably already know most of it. Overall it looked decent I think you might have just hit the cap with what your build is capable of probably. Meaning you might be pushing content your build isn't made for with that amount of investment.

If you want to really push how much damage rf can do you kind of need to be low life build str stacking. Without being low life rf you going to hit the cap on what your build is made for pretty fast imo. There just isn't enough ways to scale life based RF damage that high.

I also agree with the other guy defiance of destiny and a block recovery shield would be biggest upgrades defense wise for you. Damage wise idk what I would suggest life based rf is just meh to scale with items.
