Pyroclast Mine & Astral Projector Not Working Together Properly

As pyroclast mine has a "nova" tag I have been trying to make a poison pyroclast mine build with the new Lycia bloodline converting all fire damage into chaos. However once I got the astral projector ring to cause nova spells to target a specific location, the pyroclast mine behavior is unchanged firing projectiles around the mine, rather than where I am targeting.

I believe this used to work with pyroclast mine dating back to metamorph league when astral projector was introduced, allowing for pyroclast mines to be used for bossing, but without this interaction the whole premise of my build doesn't function.
