Uber Boss encounter - Moment of Reverence - Can't Progress Fight due to Roses Mechanic

Uber Boss encounter - Moment of Reverence, issue encountered where I am unable to progress the fight due to being unable to pick up roses.

I am stuck in the encounter and can't progress the fight to kill the boss because picking up the roses does not work, you walk over them and nothing happens.
