Divine Blessing interaction with The Covenant massively inflates life cost in 3.27
|
I am currently using March of the Legion with The Covenant together to support an extra aura into my build.
The line "Skills gain a base life cost equal to 100% of base mana cost" would mean that the mana cost would equal the life cost of whatever aura, in this case it's Haste, on cast. So my Haste, which costs 680 Mana before putting on The Covenant, did in previous leagues additionally cost me 680 life as well, each time I want to use it. However, in 3.27, now when I equip both covenant and march of the legion, the mana cost stays the same, but the life cost MORE THAN TRIPLES. I looked over the patch notes and couldn't find any mention about why it would do that In the example given, my Haste costs 680 Mana and 2166 Life to use. I am pretty certain this is a bug Cheers, Rakushi (Characters this happens to, "Rakushi_NeverLearns" and "SummongRagingRakushi" Last edited by Rakushi#4150 on Nov 7, 2025, 1:34:54 AM Last bumped on Nov 16, 2025, 3:55:24 AM

UPDATE:
After experimenting a little bit around with it, it appears that for some odd reason the covenant looks at the aura with divine blessing from the boots and instead of applying the correct equal mana cost as life on top of the aura, it instead still takes the reservation into account This became fairly evident as the cost of it is increasing the more life I am gaining (coincidently, the mana cost is also increasing a tiny bit with more life) |

It appears to be a bug with Divine Blessing, it's also causing Grace to cost crazy amounts of ES with Whispers of Infinity.

"No, it specifies base costs. Something like "10% reduced Mana Cost of Skills" should easily break the equality. The effect you're thinking of would be described as "Skill Mana Costs also Spend Life". In 3.19 patch Lifetap + Divine Blessing interaction was disabled because the devs couldn't implement the cost to be based on life (as designed) instead on mana, so everyone used this combo for a cheap aura. You can read the context here. From this and similar recent reports about Whispers of Infinity, I think before 3.27 percentage-based costs couldn't be properly calculated off the destination resource. In 3.27 that technical issue was silently resolved, and now it works as designed. |

" It would have been nice to see this change being listed within the "Bug fixes" if that is the cases because if it was an unintenional interaction that was meant to be resolved it would have been great to be listed Especially since the patch notes were comparitively sparse, too Thanks for the reply thouhg! |

"The devs don't leave changes undocumented deliberately. There are always some every update. Also from this post https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExileBuilds/comments/1oqepon/rip_30m_dps_autobomber_that_doesnt_work/ Lifetap still considers mana pool when calculating the cost, so my understanding is at least partly wrong. |
