Key Note Iron Grip - Tooltip Damage with Shrapnel Ballista
|
Hello all together,
I play a Level 95 Hierophant Strength Stacker with Shrapnel Ballsita + Replica Alberon's Warpath Boots with Iron Will. Shrapnel Ballista is a "Attack, Projectile, Totem, Bow" Gem. Does Iron Grip Boost my Damage because the tooltip does not change? (PoB says ~9% more DMG?) It looks like you might have iron will speced as thats what your first sentence says, and your character also has iron will not iron grip specced.

They changed their equipment setup to one that's better for getting EXP/leveling gems with a carry. poe.ninja can show what they were using prior to that--no Iron Grip allocated, but using Iron Will + Crown of Eyes.
Even when you're making a stat apply to other stats, it still applies only once. Your Strength damage bonus applies to all Spell Damage with Iron Will, which then applies to all Attack Damage due to Crown of Eyes. Since Strength's damage bonus already applies to all Attack Damage at 150% of its value, making it apply to physical Projectile Attack Damage with Iron Grip adds nothing--it's already applied. This sounds more like a bug with PoB than anything else, so submit an issue on the PoB Community Fork's github. |

Thank you very much for your answers, but the Key Note was changed.
Yes, I have a Crown of Eyes, so let us analyze it again: Increases and Reductions to Spell Damage also apply to Attacks at 150% of their value Iron Will: Strength's Damage Bonus applies to all Spell Damage as well. Iron Grip: Strength's Damage Bonus applies to Projectile Attack Damage as well as Melee Damage. So Iron Grip does not boost physical Projectile Attack Damage but Projectile Attack Damage. So you are 100% sure that this effect is already applied once by the Crown of Eyes and PoB is wrong? Otherwise my Ingame-Tooltip would increase by skilling a point into Iron Grip? In other words: Attack Damage from The Crown of Eyes overwrites Projectile Attack Damage from Iron Grip? TYVM :-* Last edited by Fleischpeitsche#0693 on Nov 14, 2025, 3:33:05 AM

" Unlike Iron Will, which says "all Spell Damage", Iron Grip does not say "all Projectile Attack Damage". Strength's bonus is to Physical Melee Damage. Iron Grip makes it also apply to Projectile Attack damage sources, but not to other damage types (fire/cold/etc). " Even though Iron Grip would only apply to Physical Damage, because of how PoE1 does its damage calculations, if it werre providing an extra booost you would see a difference in tooltip damage due to the Physical Damage gained as Extra Chaos from Withering Touch support. This is something you can test yourself in-game: if you remove Crown of Eyes, you should see a difference in tooltip damage from allocating/unallocating Iron Grip. Taking a closer look at the Crown of Eyes wiki page, a line noting this interaction was added a year ago. The edit that added the line was posted with the following comment: " Last edited by Jadian#0111 on Nov 14, 2025, 4:13:26 AM
