Heart of Flame Graft

Scenario:

Arena T15 map, no damage/curse mods.
Ran up on an Orichalcum ore shrine, got 2 tapped.
4,700 life
2,200 ES
78% block (attack and spell)
Res: 79F, 79C, 78L, 75Ch respectively
No suppress
Purity of Elements

I went to half health after being hit by one of the orichalcum meteors (which should have procced the Heart of Flame), didn't see that another was already on the way and died. My Heart of Flame graft is level 80 and gives a buff of 4,584, and 80% of hit damage is taken from said buff before my life. Now, either the Orichalcum shrine was bugged and did an insane amount of damage for no reason at all, or the "molten shell" from the Heart of Flame graft did not proc. I'm leaning towards the latter.

*EDIT*

Removed flaming at the end. This one is on me

You have spend life as a life mastery, which should count for the graft any time you cast a spell to trigger it if off cooldown. If it triggered 10 seconds before or had gotten eaten up before, then you got hit for effective 7k damage if not blocked over 2 meteor hits (assuming it was the meteor and not something else, no way to know for sure without video unfortunately).

I know I saw the stats for the meteor in another post, and honestly would not be surprised if it could do 10k+ over 2 non-crit hits. And the only mitigation you listed sadly is the max res for unblocked hits and high combined pool.

Oh wow. I wouldn't have even thought of the "spend life instead of mana" mastery proccing it. I guess the wording of the graft makes sense in that regard;

"When you are missing life...."

Yeah, that's on me then. Also, I do have phys mitigation, but seeing as that's a spell I didn't think armor played a role in it. Thanks for the insight though.
