Random transfigured build

Original post: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3699715

I wanted to republish this here, because:
- original thread seems to be abandoned. I want to draw more attention to this;
- post had been made before 3.26 announcements, it's a good reason to update post.

That's a challenge for 3.27 and future leagues for ones, who want to play something unusual. It consists of 4 steps:
1. Throw a 1d7 (or use random.org to get a number from 1 to 7). Pick a character with this number:
Spoiler
1. Templar
2. Shadow
3. Marauder
4. Scion
5. Ranger
6. Duelist
7. Witch

2. Before the first lab, get a skill gem you don't need. Make sure you like color this gem has. After you start the first lab, defeat Izaro for the third time and before you leave the labyrinth, roll 1d3 (similar to step 1), then transform the gem you have brought into a random transfigured gem. Get one of the outcomes based on the number rolled:
Spoiler
1. Left
2. Middle
3. Right

I suppose, you can simply memorize the gem and buy it later, if you can (want) to get something more valuable.

3. Create a fully functional build with the gem you've got (memorized and bought later) in its core* and with the character you've got.
Spoiler
* This condition is necessary to prevent some obvious ways of completing this challenge, like triggering CoC, shocking enemies for Herald of Thunder or poisoning them for Herald of Agony with the gem you have got from lab. These builds can work with most of transfigured gems, which make the whole challenge pointless.
Don't worry, default "Only use one skill gem and a lot of utility to boost damage" build is always fine for this challenge. Finding some clever ways to deal more damage with that same hits or, maybe, completely different types of builds are always appreciated.

The reason is that main difficulty of this challenge should be the build creation and not the repetitive search for better items.

4. Defeat some pinnacle bosses:
Spoiler
Eater
Exarch
Incarnation of Neglect
Incarnation of Fear
Incarnation of Dread

If you want more challenge, you can try:
High Templar Venarius (from Cortex map)
Sirus
Uber Elder (from "The Elder" quest)
Maven

T17 and Uber pinnacle bosses might be difficult for an arbitrary combination from steps 1 and 2, therefore this is not recommended.

If you want to participate, feel free to ask questions and (when ready) send PoBs and recordings of boss fights.

I love this!

I rolled a 1 and a 3 (Templar, right). Gonna give it a try.

Question: Do I need to wait until merc lab to get the gem, or can I transfigure one in normal lab and play my random skill starting from there?

The wording 'defeat izaro for the third time' was a bit confusing.

Edit: Ah, I see the original challenge post refers to the normal lab divine font. Understood.

Awesome job with that Shattering Steel build!

How did you record the videos? I've never done that before.

Sorry for this misunderstanding. I meant, that there are 3 fights with Izaro in each lab, and after you finished the last one, the lab is basically completed. I changed text a bit to specify, that first lab was reffered.

By the way, I'm surprised you want to use transfigured gem right after you get it, which is not necessary. You still can play with skills you have until you have enough currency/gear for respec and then start using that transfigured gem.

Edit: i used OBS studio to record my screen. Since I didn't have any video editor, I used it display additional information as well.

And my skill is...
Flameblast of Celerity!

I guess it's not that off-meta, but I am pleased, since I've wanted to do flameblast for a long time.

Edit: I'll be going self-cast without Energy Blade. Picked Hierophant, we'll see what sort of MoM shenanigans I can get up to.
