Desecrating destroyed Jewel.

Noticed that Preserved Cranium are usable on Undying Hate (Unique Timeless Jewel).
Tried it and it worked for adding 3 Abyss Modifiers but when using the fourth Preserved Cranium to add the fourth modifier the jewel just poofed out of existence with a red splah effect similar to a failed Recombinator attempt.

Is this intended or a bug?

Preserved Cranium tooltip states it is for rare jewels but worked on Undying Hate.
And the tooltip on Desecration doesn't mention it can destroy / delete the item.

Destroying the item is a possible result. I agree Unstable could be better conveyed what it means.

Ok, I totally missed that bit of grey text at the end of the item tooltip.
But even if I had noticed it I wouldn't have assumed it meant potential total loss of the item.
A more direct phrasing to highlight the risk would be appreciated.
