Frost Ball + Flame Wall causes self-damage to player (Patch 0.3)
When using Frost Ball together with Flame Wall, the player receives damage from their own skill interaction. Specifically, when Frost Ball explodes after passing through Flame Wall, the explosion sometimes damages the player if they are inside or near the wall.
Steps to Reproduce: 1. Cast Flame Wall in front of your character. 2. Stand inside the Flame Wall. 3. Cast Frost Ball so it travels through the wall and explodes nearby. 4. On the second Frost Ball explosion, the player takes a noticeable hit to Energy Shield. Observed Result: My Energy Shield drops from about 2.7k → 1.9k after the second Frost Ball explosion. This occurs consistently when Frost Ball explodes while I am standing inside the Flame Wall. Expected Result: Flame Wall’s projectile interaction should only apply additional fire damage to enemies, not reflect back or damage the caster. The player should not be harmed by their own Frost Ball + Flame Wall interaction. Additional Notes: Tested in PoE2 Patch 0.3 (current early access). Happens repeatedly and is easy to reproduce. No self-damage mechanics (e.g., Forbidden Rite, RF) are active in this test. Last bumped on Sep 8, 2025, 2:46:43 PM
