journey's end ship explosion / instant death timer bug

The timer on the ship began counting down.

I left the ship until the timer counted down to 0:00

The timer disappeared.

I returned to the ship area out of curiosity.

Many seconds after the timer had disappeared there was still a red glowing explosive on the ship.

The moment I stepped into what I'm guessing is the instant death range, the explosion went off and killed me.

Not a fun way to die in hardcore. That killed my enthusiasm for the league in a way that no number of legit deaths could have.
