Higher Tier Corrupted Nexus than quest asks for does not progress Cataclysm's Wake questline

Title, completing a higher tier map than the quest is asking for does not award corrupted nexus progress for the Cataclysm's Wake questline.
I just completed a Tier 9 waystone on a corrupted nexus and did not get the tier 6 quest progress

Edit: nevermind just a long animation that I missed because visual clarity in this game doesn't exist.....ran back and the quest item dropped
