Eldritch Empowerment + Dark Effigy bug

The Lich node Eldritch Empowerment is causing Dark Effigy to sacrifice your energy shield every time it casts vile effusion. This is not how this interaction worked in 0.2, and does not appear to align with the text of Eldritch Empowerment which specifically says "Sacrifice... when you cast a spell".

It very much looked like Dark Effigy was the issue here, but the bug is actually that the Doom Blast curse support costs energy shield every time it detonates.

When my unearthed minions die, it feels like they also contribute to this. I actually don't know what is triggering it. Maybe it is cause they explode with contagion and that triggers it? In any case, it should not be like this and it wasn't like this in 0.2

You are right, it is the doom blast, clearly not intended interaction. Is this a known bug? Tested some things with my build but the only common thing I could find was simply doom blast.
