Severe network spikes when playing in party

Hello,

when I play Path of Exile 2 with my friend, I experience severe network spikes of up to 15,000 ms. When I play solo, everything works fine.

It also seems that if I enter an area first and my friend joins me, there are no issues. But if he enters first and I join him, the spikes begin immediately.

I’m playing on a Wi-Fi connection, with the router located right next to my PC’s mainboard. I’ve never had problems with my Wi-Fi before. I’ve read that switching to a cable connection might help, although others report the same issue even with a cable.

I also read that ExitLag could potentially be a solution. Is this tool allowed?

Are there any other possible fixes? Both of the above options would cost extra money, and at the moment I don’t have a cable available nor an ExitLag account.

I don’t know if it’s just a coincidence, but ever since I set my network to private in the settings, everything seems to be running better.
