Getting "disconnected" when changing areas
Hi,
I'm playing The Third Edict on my PS5, and I've been running into a persistent issue with area transitions. When moving between different areas, the loading time is unusually long and often results in a disconnection from the game. When this happens, I have to create a new instance, which works most of the time but not always. It's getting to a point where the game is becoming unplayable for me due to these frequent interruptions. For context, the server I'm connecting to is London (EU), and I'm located in Dublin. Hi there,
After a few days of investigation, I finally figured out what’s causing the problem. In short, it’s not entirely GGG’s fault—the ultimate solution might be changing your ISP. I’ve experienced the same issue myself, constantly getting disconnected when moving or porting to another area. Each time this happens, the game needs to request GGG’s server to create a new map instance. For that to work smoothly, your internet connection must be perfectly stable. For example, I’m based in Australia and use More Telecom, which is a wholesaler for Vocus. Honestly, Vocus seems to be the root cause. Using WinMTU to check the route, I noticed a significant amount of packet loss, which shows that their routing is poor. There are a few possible solutions: If you’re on PC: Use a VPN to bypass your ISP’s bad routing, e.g., Cloudflare Warp. If you’re on PS5: There’s no direct way to use a VPN on the console. You’d need to set it up on your router, which can be tricky depending on your router’s capabilities. The best solution: Change your ISP. Using one with more stable routing will prevent these disconnections in the long run. Hope this helps! |
