Lost all items in bank

So its been a while since I played so I decided to delete all my characters and start from scratch. I put everything into the bank and deleted all the characters and now my bank is empty. Is this supposed to happen and if so, why?

Your stash is league-specific.
You will only be able to access your items if you create a new character in the same league as your previous characters were in. For example, they may have been in the permanent Standard league. Is it really starting from scratch with a stash full of loot and currency, though? |

Ahhhh, thank you. Didn't even think of that. I wanted to start over to relearn the mechanics of the game. Having a bank full of stuff is just a bonus.
