Towers and tablets
You can remove them and no one will complain. Everyone likes scarabs.

" NO. I like SEXTANTS. I got majorly pissed off when they removed them. This is inventory slot fodder, that sole purpose is to make them sell scarab stashes, and are so terrible to price without external tools. Scarabs are easier to use by the players. Easier to use by the devs, because you can limit them one by one. I do not need "easy". I have brain. No need to hold me by hand... PoE 1 atlas is better than PoE 2 atlas. But SEXTANTS are better than Scarabs. Tablets are the second best thing. |

There is no brain usage involved in using tablets, you're just stacking quantity + rarity + whatever mechanic you want to farm.
Towers themselves are not the main problem - them being able to overlap is. Since the only way to juice maps is to stack enough tablet modifiers in a certain area, it creates two very fundamental issues: 1) You are forced to run empty maps in order to setup anything. This doesn't increase the depth of the experience in any way, shape or form and boggles down to performing chores - this should never exist in any game, ever. Since the number of tower overlaps ranges between 2-5, it forces the player to mindlessly roam meaningless content until they are finally allowed to play, which further amplifies the problem. 2) There is no agency given to the player in choosing which map layouts to buff and farm. Whichever nodes happen to be in the area where enough towers overlap is what you are forced to run. This is a downgrade compared to even the vanilla sextant system, which (with enough knowledge) allowed you to have influence in that area and a complete 180 compared to the favoured map system and actual atlas passive tree. " how are scarabs so hard to price when u can literally sell them ingame using the npc, and u are talking as if tablets dont take inventory space. |

" I do not mean, that they are hard to sell. I am saying that for each atlas strategy, there are some scarab items. And during the league each of those scarabs have floating price, that can change from 0.1 chaos to 10 chaos. Or from 10 chaos to 100 chaos. And this change is happening constantly during the league. And you have to upgrade your loot filter constantly to deal with this. And each scarab is limited to single use. (well with the obvious exception) And each scarab is stacking limit. It is easier to balance the game like that. But it is boring as hell. And you are HARD capped. "Child game", "holding by hand", etc... In POE 2 with tablets, you can get those overlaps, that give you orgasm when you enter the juicy map... Is it consistent - no. But it is something that you are looking for, plan for when making paths, and adds complexity to the game. I do not like "easy". I like complex. |
