WARNING: Windows 11 KB5063878 May break your SSD when POE 3.0 is released.

A growing number of users since last week have been reporting that their SSD drives have been malfunctioning since the latest Windows 11 patch has been released. It is affecting all SSD brands and manufacurers that use "many" hardware controllers on the SSD such as "Phison" branded hardware controllers.

Issue with Windows 11 Security Update 'KB5063878' and ‘KB5062660’

Condition: When large groups of files or a single installation of over 50GB is transfered or downloaded to the SSD the new Windows secrutiy update mistakes this as an attack and "ejects" the SSD from your device. Your PC will crash and restarting your PC will give you an error as the SSD drive is no longer detected.

Hardware: This is affecting about 60% of SSD brands and models that have been tested with this windows update. Common similarities between the Affected SSDs are a lack of DRAM controller on the SSD for managing data through the Host Memory Buffer

HMB (Host Memory Buffer) is a technology that allows SSDs (Solid State Drives) to use a portion of the computer's system memory (DRAM) instead of requiring their own dedicated DRAM.

Temporary Solution: This security update can be uninstalled through windows update untill Microsoft updates Windows 11 and addresses the problem.

Windows Update Settings > History > Uninstall Updates > Security Update KB5063878 > Uninstall

Pause windows updates for a few weeks (or how ever long you want) then Restart computer.

Avoid transfering files above 50GB untill this is fixed by Microsoft.

Thank you!
already done the measures.

Updates removed.
Updates paused for a month.
Working class aka Casuals.
Gaming since 1990.
Make Chaos DMG Great AGain.
This seems to be a massive issue if it's true, with dire consequences on the users hardware.

Can GGG look into this and confirm before jumping to conclusions? I think this calls for their input to advise the player base if they are in danger of causing harm to their pcs.

They would know the size of the upcoming 0.3 update patch and if this calls for a global notice and sticky of this post.

We're relying on your inputs here GGG.

Thank you,
S.
0.2 was 31Gb for pc users...this one something more i guess?
They posted file size and download details on this forum tho so no risk.
